LCD FPDs FOR GUS/EST IN CLASSIC AND Z/EZ CONSOLES

Background Honeywell has Thin-Frame MultiSync LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)

FPDs (Flat Panel Displays) for installation in Classic and Ergonomic
consoles. All new consoles are now delivered with FPDs. FPDs
are also available in upgrade kits for Classic and Ergonomic (19"
and 22” FPDs) and EZ (21.3" FPD) consoles. The 18.1" and 20.1"
FPDs are no longer available.

All FPDs have a high native resolution (19” & 21.3”: 1280 x 1024,
22”: 1920 x 1080) and have a wide viewing angle of 170 degrees,
low magnetic fields and wattage consumption.

Part Numbers Table 1 lists part numbers for console mounted LCD monitors. These
numbers are only for replacement of an existing FPD. If a tube type CRT
monitor is being replaced, an upgrade kit must be used. T/S means
touchscreen

 VESA mount means that the FPD monitor hangs to a flat surface, in this
case a black mounting plate included in the kits in Table 2. VESA mount is
a family of standards defined by the Video Electronics Standards
Association for mounting flat panel monitors, TVs, and other displays to
stands or wall mounts. W = Widescreen.

Cleaning The 20.1" FPD has a glass face so any appropriate glass cleaner can
be used. For the 19", 21.3" and 22” FPDs, only clean the LCD monitor
surface with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth. Avoid using any cleaning
solution or glass cleaner as it may degrade the plastic screen cover.
Water and a tiny amount of soap may be used.

Classic Upgrade The following kits shown in Table 2 are available to upgrade any classic
Kits for 19” FPDs console to a 19” FPD. These FPDs are compatible with the touchscreen
used with the newer flat screen Sony CRT monitors, used with a PC-
based computing module and either an OEP or IKB keyboard. The
51153996-200/300 (19" FPD) is used in all the kits in Table 2.

Classic Upgrade The following kits shown in Table 3 are available to upgrade any classic
Kits for 22” console to a widescreen 22” FPD from a CRT or FPD behind a bezel,
Widescreen FPDs with a PC-based computing module and either an OEP or IKB keyboard.
The 51155587-100/200 (22” FPD) is used in all the kits in Table 3.

Ergonomic The following kits shown in Table 4 are available to upgrade any
Upgrade Kits ergonomic Z-console to a 20.1” FPD. These FPDs are compatible with
for 20.1” FPD the touchscreen used with the newer flat screen Sony CRT monitors. The
20.1” FPDs are being phased out due to supplier obsolescence and when
current inventory is depleted these models/parts/kits will no longer be
available for purchase.

Notes:  These kits are for either the lower or upper tier.
 This kit will work with any station that has been already upgraded with a flat panel
bezel for support of a flat screen Sony monitor. The existing bezel and
touchscreen, if present, will be used with the FPD.
 The Z2 kit referenced to lower tier, and the ZU kit is referenced to upper tier. Both
Z2 & ZU kits contain identical parts and can be used interchangeable. This FPD
does not have an external control panel. NEC software drivers are used to adjust
the FPD. This driver (NEC Naviset) is available on the Honeywell TPS Utility &
Load Modules CDs R300.2.1 and later and the Honeywell HPS website. Note:
this driver is only supported on Windows 2000 and later. All new build consoles
from our factory that are not configured as LCN US stations are equipped with this
FPD. Bezel and touchscreen may be ordered separately if upgrading from a non-
flat screen Sony CRT.

Ergonomic The following kits shown in Table 5 are available to upgrade any
Upgrade Kits ergonomic Z-console to a 22” widescreen FPD from a CRT or FPD
for 22” behind a bezel, with a PC-based computing module and either an OEP or
IKB keyboard. The 51155587-100/200 (22” FPD) is used in all the kits in
Widescreen FPD

EZ-Console These kits allow replacing CRTs with FPDs. See Table 6. Because of
Upgrade Kits the box frame used to mount 20.1” and 21.3” FPDs, CRTs and FPDs
for 20.1” FPD cannot be mixed.

for 22” also used to convert Z to EZ-Consoles. Because of the box frame used
to mount FPDs, CRTs and FPDs cannot be mixed.

Z to EZ-Console Table 9 shows kits that allow the removal of the large CRT pods and

 The FPD Touchscreen is a USB interface and requires the operating system be
Windows 2000 or above.

Display Table 10 shows the graphics modes supported by the 19", 20.1”, 21.3" and
Resolution 22” FPDs. Since FPDs refresh the entire screen at the same time, instead of
scanning from the top to the bottom of the screen like CRTs, they only need a
refresh frequency of 60 Hz. Most FPDs only operate at a refresh rate of 60
Hz. For GUS/EST operation it is recommended that a refresh frequency of
60 Hz be used for all resolution setting.

Note:  The LCN/US graphics mode is only supported by the 18.1”,19” and 20.1” FPDs.
Picture Below is an after-the-upgrade picture of a Classic console (in the middle)
with either upgrade kit TP-ZFPCLT or TP-ZFPCL1 (they appear the same
from the front, one connects the touchscreen cable in the FPD’s back,
the other doesn’t) with the new upper half-height bezel 51154164-100.
The 19" FPD is now hanged from the front on a new flat bezel with a
mounting plate. This new flat bezel also extends towards the OEP
Keyboard and has a new filler plate with a hole for the keyswitch (the old
filler plate on the old bezel can also be transferred to the new flat bezel).
Follow the Upgrade Kit Instructions in document 51195195-356 included
in the kits.
