IF WE WERE GIANTS

BOOK REPORT
PAGE 225-294 | CHAPTER 22-28
Kirra sat on the top of a rocky ridge. She was at the lake in the
forest, there was no one. Just Loba, Maham, Luwan and her. They
waited for more than half an hour. Nobody appeared. When
suddenly, silhouettes came out of the trees. Within a minute,
hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands perhaps, were around the
great body of water, sitting. Kirra couldn't believe it. She was
nervous, she had never been around so many people. When Loba
saw Kirra's distraught face, he stood up, and he began to speak,
introducing himself. Even though the place was colossal, Loba's
great voice could be heard from every corner around the lake.
Meanwhile, Kirra remembered that she was meant to be a
storyteller. That her ability is in her blood, running through her
veins. Then Loba began to introduce his family, until he spoke about
Kirra, inviting her to speak, so that she could tell what had
happened. Kirra told her story, her entire past, of the volcano to
create a context. All the weight that she had carried for several
years disappeared, she felt like new. So now she started talking
about the Takers, they had to fight, but first prepare, before the
rainy season ended. She created awareness in people. A friend of
Luwan began to talk about how they would defend themselves
against them. They would use giants, they would be moved just like
a puppet, but much, much bigger.
The following days, people gathered, began to build, began to
collaborate, like those ants that old Mome had shown Kirra.
Days, weeks, months passed, the old silent forest was still a forest,
but now where the people began to be a community, they shared,
laughter, resources, stories, and so on. It wasn't silent anymore.
While they were building, not everything was perfect, there were
mistakes, they designed, they tried, again and again, so that the
machine could walk, something that the first giant did not do. But
that is the process that eventually leads to success.
Their plan of attack consisted of hiding the giants behind the trees,
and creating an ambush, something similar to the first attack, but
on a much, much larger scale.
It's funny, how a child's question: "What would happen IF WE
WERE GIANTS?" would become a great idea that could be the
salvation of an entire forest full of people.
The day finally came, when the storms subsided, and the river
calmed. A trumpet blared. The takers had arrived. The tree folk took
their positions, the battle was about to begin. Apparently, every
enemy warrior had also prepared for battle, but from the day of his
birth. The Takers were made for war.
The epic battle between the Takers and the brave community of
forest dwellers, backed by their wooden giants, raged with
breathtaking fury. The roar of fighting echoed through the trees, as
the colossal giants swung their wooden limbs, determinedly
defending the home they had built among the treetops. The Takers,
motivated by greed and the desire to invade, faced unwavering
resistance from those who protected what they represented as
home. Every blow of the wooden giants was a reminder of the
tenacity of the forest people.
There were times in the battle when the scales, representing each
side, swung back and forth. However, the Takers had to be defeated
at some point.
Kirra had avenged every being that he had been unfortunately
punished by the no longer undefeatable beasts.
The community of forest dwellers celebrates their victory against
the Takers. The wooden giants, which once stood as guardians, will
now rest peacefully, once again forming part of the forest.
Reminders of the perseverance and unity that led to victory.
Each member of the community, from the youngest to the oldest,
finds his or her place in this new era of peace and prosperity. In the
new community formed.
Kirra, the narrator, decided to venture into a life full of adventures
and stories to tell, traveling around the world. As her ancestors
once did.
