ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

The objective of the assignment is to relate educational leadership practices with selected case studies and research.

PART 1: JOURNAL ARTICLE REVIEW (20%)

Review the following journal article on the school headmasters’ leadership qualities.

PART 2: IN-DEPTH INTERVIEW REPORT (30%)

Use the above article in Part 1 (Sultan et al., 2022) as a reference to conduct an in-depth interview (online or face-to-face) with 2 (TWO) senior teachers who

have been teaching for more than five years at any school/institution to address the following research objective/research question:

Research Objective:

To examine the teachers’ perceptions of the school principal’s leadership qualities.

Research Question:

What are the teachers’ perceptions of the school principal’s leadership qualities?

In your report, you need to include the following elements.

1) The profile of the key informants: Write in detail the profile of these two key informants to be written descriptively (NOT in table form).

2) Qualitative data analysis: Analyse descriptively and narratively the in-depth interviews in the qualitative method. Your analysis should use these

themes: accountability, communication, decision-making, and time management. Please note that it is NOT
in a dialogue/conversation form or raw data.

3) Key findings and conclusion: Elaborate on key findings and draw a conclusion

PART 3: ONLINE CLASS PARTICIPATION (10%)

This part requires students to participate actively in the MyINSPIRE eforum. Discuss the following topics in the forum and submit proof of your participation

with your tutor and peers in the eforum online discussions:

1. Discuss the difference between the functions of management and leadership.

2. Discuss Locke and Latham’s Goal-Setting Theory and how the theory can be used to motivate teachers in schools.
