 ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

OBJECTIVE
The objective of the assignment is to relate educational leadership practices with
selected case studies and research.

TASK REQUIREMENTS
The assignment consists of TWO (2) parts. Part 1 requires you to review ONE (1) journal
article. Part 2 requires you to interview with any senior teachers to obtain information
about leadership ability among school principals.

PART 1: JOURNAL ARTICLE REVIEW (20 MARKS)

Part I requires you to write a review of ONE journal article related to leadership or
principalship.

When you write the review, you must answer and include the following components:
▪ What is the focus of the articles?
▪ Why is the study important?
▪ What was done in the study?
▪ The key result of the study
▪ Your understanding – your critique of the articles

PART 2: TEACHERS’ INTERVIEW REPORT (40 MARKS)

You are required to conduct a phone or an online in-depth interview with 2 (TWO) senior
teachers who have been teaching more than five years at any school/institution to
address the following research objective and research question:

Research Objective:
To examine the leadership ability of a school principal plays a crucial role in teachers’
satisfaction and commitment.

Research Question:
To what extent the leadership ability of a school principal plays a crucial role in teachers’
satisfaction and commitment?

In your report, you need to include the following elements.

1) The profile of the key informants - detail the profile of these two key informants to
be written descriptively.
2) The Interview protocol - construct 5 semi-structured questions related to the
research questions in the interview protocol.
3) Qualitative data analysis - analyse your qualitative data descriptively and narratively
in a thematic format (NOT in a dialogue/conversation form or raw data).
4) Key findings and conclusion – elaborate key findings and draw a conclusion
