PHILIPPINES: TROPICAL STORM NALGAE/PAENG

Kusiong Evacuation Center Gender Analysis Snapshot December 2022

In 28 October 2022, Severe Tropical Storm Nalgae (locally named


Paeng) brought heavy rains causing floods across the
Philippines. Its impact was most severe in BARMM with over 1M Matanog Barira
Buldon

displaced population. A major landslide in Barangay Kusiong,


Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao destroyed more than 500
houses and damaged 900. The number of residents at the Parang
evacuation center continued to change over the response period.
As of 7th January 2023 with schools resuming, all families have
