First and foremost, if you are close to the ocean, you need to leave

immediately, gather your belongings, and keep up with important news by listening

to the radio. Don't panic out, and make sure that everyone in the family is prepared.

Identify or locate the nearest evacuation facility. Be always vigilant and be ready for

the officers' announcement if you need to evacuate. The evacuation center needs to

have all the necessary supplies on hand, as well as plenty of room and food

supplies. Have a connection with a disaster officer so you may immediately get

assistance if needed. The evacuation center must also prepare the essentials, such

as bottled water, can goods, and especially the first aid kit. Your main priorities

should be storing enough food and water for the entire household for at least three

days before a typhoon strikes (rescue usually arrives 72 hours after a disaster hit)

 Stay at home or in a safe place.

 Keep yourself updated on the latest weather news.

 Secure your important belongings on high ground.

 Cancel all travel and outdoor activities.

 Evacuate immediately and calmly if there's an order from your local

government unit or if you live near a body of water or mountainsides to

avoid flash floods and landslides. Close all windows and switch off

your main power supply.

 Keep the following items handy in case of a power outage: battery-

operated radio, flashlights, spare batteries, rechargeable lamps, and

candles.
Typhoons are one of the deadliest natural disasters in our country, therefore

always be ready to protect yourself from damage. Avoid locations that are prone to

flooding or landslides if you really need to leave your house. Moreover, keep an eye

out for flying debris. Stop all outdoor and travel activities. If you really must travel

during a typhoon, drive carefully. The most important thing to do during a typhoon is

to suspend all your planned activities and any out-of-town trips. One of most

essential things in every family member's emergency pack should be a bag filled

with food, water, and a flashlight. To get to the evacuation center, you should be

aware of every route that serves as an option. Ensure the safety of your belongings

and stay informed about any typhoon-related happenings. Keep your house in order

and turn off all your appliances. The last important thing to do is make sure that

everyone in your family knows what to do if anything happens. It can be as simple

as discussing the responsibilities of each person and handing out copies of a plan

so that everyone knows what needs to be done in case of an emergency.

 Don't wade through the flood to avoid leptospirosis and other water-

borne diseases, as well as electrocution.

 If you run out of potable water, make your available water supply safe

for drinking by boiling it for 3 to 20 minutes.

 Keep all food and water containers covered and sealed.

 Stay at home or in a safe place. If you really have to leave your home,

avoid areas that are prone to flooding or landslides. Watch out also for

flying objects and debris.

The first thing you should do after a typhoon is check on your family

members to make sure no one is injured and if everyone is safe. If a typhoon

caused any damage to your home, you could repair the damage and inspect the

electrical wiring. Once you've finished checking, you can go back to your houses,

but don't let your children play on any electrical items. Check all the items you had

prepared in advance once the typhoon's worst has gone, and the wind and rain

have calmed. Check if the water is potable and if all the food is still edible. In the

case that your location was seriously impacted, you might need to ration these

items. Like I said earlier, after the typhoon don't go back to your house without the

permission of the authorities. After you need to check your surroundings and the

damage that is caused by the typhoon even if the typhoon is over always watch your

step and be prepared for the things that we may encounter.

 If your home was ruined by the typhoon, check first if it's safe and

stable before entering.

 Don't plug in and use appliances and other electrical devices that have

been flooded.

 Leave the evacuation area only when the authorities declare that it's

safe to return home.

 Keep monitoring the news for any new typhoon in the Philippines.

 Report any damaged electric posts and cables to the authorities.

 Watch out for live wires or outlets submerged in water.

 Inspect your vehicle for any damage caused by flooding.

 Support command and operations in their use of personal supplies and

equipment.

1. Tahanan

 Make sure the trees and shrubs around your house are properly

pruned so they are more wind resistant. Rain gutters and

downspouts should be cleared of debris. Make your garage doors

stronger wind can enter a garage and cause expensive and risky

structural damage. Make sure that every member of the family has

their own customized kit that includes bottled water, canned goods,

medications, a flashlight, and emergency supplies if the typhoon is

approaching. This is the best way to prepare. The best method to

get ready for the typhoon is to establish a plan for the potential

routes to take to the evacuation center and to constantly check on

your family members.

2. Baranggay

 Most barangay leaders have established evacuation plans and

designated safe areas for typhoon evacuees. Know where these

locations are and make a plan for how you and your family will

arrive at these evacuation centers quickly and effectively if

necessary. The barangay should always have strategies in place,

such as a disaster response and recovery plan (DRRM),

contingency plans, an evacuation plan, and a recovery plan, as

disasters are unexpected.

3. LGU

 The local government unit (LGU) must be able to identify the

vulnerabilities of the region and its residents, impart fundamental

knowledge about natural disasters and potential effects, run an

information and education campaign (IEC) on disaster mitigation,

and collaborate with those in charge of planning, building, and

health. One of the most important things to prepare for is to have

enough food and medicine on hand. This will help to both prevent

illness. In distributing the supplies, LGU should develop a plan.

LGU can provide a bigger help to the people who are affected.

4. National Financial Assistant

 The people affected by the typhoon may potentially receive

additional goods through National Financial Assistance. They can

support or assist LGU to create significant success on the agenda

they intend to follow by providing donations and/or National

Financial Assistance. National Financial Assistance can act as a

mentor or assist other organizations in achieving successful

outcomes.

5. Social Media

 With real-time alerts and warnings, social media can be used as a

tool for information and instruction. For emergency services to

send out alerts and warnings, social media is an alternative

channel. With natural catastrophes like storms, this is true.

Communities frequently use social media sites like Twitter,

Facebook, WeChat, and Weibo during crises and disasters to

remain in touch, share experiences, and obtain essential

information and resources as needed to support disaster response

and recovery. Social media can assist others in staying informed

about any news and provide access to a wealth of information

regarding the storm, but people should use responsibility when

viewing any news because it can occasionally spread false or

unfavorable information.

6. Evacuation Center

 The purpose of evacuation shelters is to lessen harm and maintain

the general populace's health. A large amount of room and supplies

should be available at the evacuation center, and there should be

accommodation made for those who were impacted by the

typhoon. It is their responsibility to ensure the public's safety and

the shelter and security of the evacuation center. In the morning,

lugaw or aruskaldo are two possible dishes that the evacuation

center might have prepared. The same goes for lunch and dinner.

Each morning, officers or higher-level administrators should

organize workouts or moderate activities for them to keep them

healthy. People working in the evacuation center must be cheerful

and let go of any negative thoughts that might lead individuals to

become depressed or stressed.
