What is Power BI?
Power BI connects your data (from up to multiple data sources), processes it, and spits out
stunning reports.

These reports can be viewed and personalized by an unlimited number of people on all devices.

When to use Power BI

When you:

- Want state-of-the-art reporting

- Work with large amounts of data
- Want to analyze data from more than one source
- Want to share data and reports seamlessly
- Want to automate reporting processes

Data integrity
An important part of Power BI is that data only goes from the data into Power BI.

That means that whatever you do with the data in Power BI, you can’t break the data in the
original dataset.

Get data into Power BI Online

Go to Power BI Online at: powerbi.microsoft.com and log in.

1. Click on the ’Get data’ button in the lower-left corner

2. Chose where you want to get data from
3. Follow the instructions on the screen

Get data into Power BI Desktop

If you already have Power BI Desktop installed, open it. If not, log in to powerbi.microsoft.com
and hit the ‘Download’ icon in the top menu. Click on ‘Power BI Desktop’ and install it.

When you have Power BI Desktop open:

1. Click the ‘Get data’ button on the left side of the ‘Home’ tab
2. Chose where you want to import data from
3. Follow the instructions on the screen
