Chapter 6: Population Growth and Economic Development: Causes

In 2013 the world population reaches about 7.2 billion people and an estimated

every year there are 72 million people are being added to the world’s population.

Almost population increase is under on the developing countries. Moreover, the rapid

population growth can have serious consequences for the well-being of humanity. As

we conclude if the rising population continuously increases especially in those countries

that are under in developing countries there’s a huge chance to control the growth of

their economy. But the population growth is not the only reason for Poverty because

sometimes the reason for it is Underdevelopment Resource Depletion, Environmental

Destruction, and so on. That affects the growth of one country. Furthermore, they talk

about the Demographic Transition which is based on historical population trends of

two demographic characteristics – birth rate and death rate to suggest that a country's

total population growth rate cycles through stages as that country develops

economically. With the help of this, they easily identify the population. There are 3

stages of demographic Characteristics it is high birth rates and death rates. Stage 2 is

continued high birth rates, declining death rates, and last the falling birth rates and

death rates, eventually stabilizing.

In conclusion, demographic change will result in a population that is slower to

increase and young to older. The growth rate of potential production, the natural rate of

unemployment, and the long-term equilibrium interest rate will all likely fall as a result

of this shift. Lastly, the primary cause of poverty is the high growth of the population.
