ABSTRACT
The simplified fractional reserve flow formula is the relationship between mean
pressure distal to the lesion and mean aortic pressure under hyperemic
stimulation with adenosine; 0.8 is the accepted cut-off point for defining a coronary
lesion as relevant from a hemodynamic point of view. Wave-free period is defined
as a relationship between distal mean intracoronary pressure and mean aortic
pressure, during a diastolic period that begins after 25% of diastole and ends 5
milliseconds before end of diastole (wave-free period), which allows determining this
relationship without the need to administer hyperemic agents.

Coronary angiography using computed tomography has been positioned as a non-

invasive alternative for the evaluation of coronary anatomy, and at present, the
addition of functional tests to this study, such as fractional reserve flow and coronary
tomography angiography, provides information on the coronary anatomy and, in a
complementary manner, the physiological impact of coronary lesions.
