Janet’s Shop purchased 70 shirts at a cost of Php 80 each. The shop expects that 10%
of the shirts will be sold at a reduced price of Php75 each. If the shop is to maintain a
75% markup on cost on the entire purchased, find the regular price of the shirt?

Solution:
Total cost of shirt : Php 80 * 70 = Php 5600

Let regular price be x

x = TC * MV

x = Php 5600 * (1 + 75%)

x = Php 9800

The selling price of 10% shirts = S

S = number of shirts * reduced price

S = (70 * 10%) Php 75

S = Php 525

The regular price of the shirt = y

y = Php 147.22

Conclusion: The regular price of the shirt is Php 147.22
