All Owners, Masters, Managers, Agents and Representatives of Ships Calling at


Cyprus Ports

I refer to the above Code, which has been in force since the 1st July 1998 for
passenger ships, bulk carriers, oil/chemical tankers and high speed craft and for
Companies managing these ships and inform you that any vessel entering the Cyprus
ports which is not in compliance with the said Code and is not furnished with the
required Safety Management Certificate, SMC, will be detained.

The detention will be lifted as soon as the vessel in question is fully in compliance
with the Code and any deficiencies found, during a Port State Control Inspection,
related to the safety and pollution prevention aspects of the vessel, have been
rectified.

This Circular revokes our circular no. 8/98 dated 24 February 1998.
