Grade IX : MATHEMATICS TERM- I REVISION WORKSHEET 1Answer key

TOPIC: NUMBER SYSTEM, COORDINATE GEOMETRY, LINES AND ANGLES
SECTION A

1. The decimal expansion of the number √2 is

a. A finite decimal
b.1.41421
c. non-terminating recurring
d. non-terminating non-recurring

2. Assertion(A): On simplification,3 +2√2 gives an irrational number

Reason(R): A number whose decimal expansion is terminating is rational
a. Both assertion and reason(R) are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion
b. Both assertion and reason(R) are true but reason is not the correct explanation of
assertion
c. Assertion(A) is true but reason(R) is false
d. Assertion(A) is false but reason(R) is true
3. Points (1,-1), (2,-2),(4,-5),(-3,-4)
a. lie in II quadrant
b. lie in III quadrant
c. lie in IV quadrant
d. do not lie in the same quadrant
4. Assertion : Point(-5,-4)lie in quadrant II
Reason(R): Point lying in quadrant I has x>0 and y>0
a. Both assertion(A) and reason(R) are true and reason is the correct explanation of
assertion
b. Both assertion(A) and reason(R) are true but reason is not the correct explanation of
assertion
c. Assertion(A) is true but reason(R) is false
d. Assertion(A) is false but reason(R) is true
5. In the figure find the value of y
a.28 ̊ b.40 ̊ c.140 ̊ d.56 ̊

6. Two angles measure (55 ̊ + 3a) and (115 ̊ -2a). If each is a

supplement of the other, then calculate the value of a
a.20 ̊ b.30 ̊ c.10 ̊ d.40 ̊
SECTION B
7. In the figure if l ǁ m find the value of x

8. What will be the measure of an angle whose supplement is one-fourth of itself?

Let one angle be x ̊. Then, another angle is 4x ̊

𝑥
Thus, x+4=180 ̊
180 ×4
5x=180×4 x= =144 ̊
5

Thus, the required angles are 144 ,̊ 36 .̊

√5+√3 √5−√3
9. Simplify: +
√5−√3 √5+√3

10.If x= 2+√3, find 𝑥 2 + 𝑥 2
11. In figure m ǁ n ˂1 = 62 ̊ find ˂6 and ˂7
∠1 = ∠3 (vertically opposite angle)
∠3 = 62ᵒ
∠3 = ∠7 (corresponding angle)
∠7 = 62ᵒ
Now ∠6 + ∠7 = 180ᵒ
∠6 = 180 – 62 = 118ᵒ
12. The sum of two triangles is 120 ̊ and their difference is 20 ̊. Find all the three angles of
the triangle
Sum of two triangles=120 ̊, A + B = 120 ̊ (i)
Difference of two triangles=20 ̊ , A – B = 20 ̊ (ii) A = B + 20 ̊
Substituting the value of A in eq i
= B + 20 ̊ +B = 120 ̊ = 2B = 100 ̊ = ˂B = 50 ̊ ˂A = 70 ̊
Sum of all three angles is 180 ̊
<A + <B + <C = 180 ̊ 70 ̊ + 50 ̊ + <C = 180 ̊ <C = 180 ̊ - 120 ̊ = 60 ̊
13. If the two points are A (-3,7) and B(-7,5), then what is (abscissa A)- (abscissa B)?
-3 – (-7)= -3+7 =4
14.Plot the points(1,4), B(-2,1),C(4,1)

i. Name the figure obtained by joining ABC Triangle

ii. Find the area of the figure
𝑝
iii. Express 1.363636... in the form 𝑞, where p and q are integers and q ≠ 0.

Let x = 1.363636...
Thus, 100x = 136.3636...
100x – x = 136.3636... - 1.363636...
99x = 135
135 15
X= = 11

SECTION C
7 √3 2√5 3√2
16.Simplify: - -
√10+ √3 √6+√5 √15+3√2
17. In the fig AMꓕ BC and AN is the bisector of ˂BAC.
If ˂B =70 ̊ and ˂C = 35 ̊,Find ˂MAN

18.In fig OP bisects ˂BOC and OQ bisects ˂AOC. Prove that ˂POQ= 90 ̊

Here OP bisect ∠BOC

∴∠POC=∠BOP …………(i)
and OQ bisect ∠AOC
∴∠AOQ=∠COQ …………….(ii)
and ∠AOB=180 ̊ [∵AOB is a straight line]
⇒∠BOP+∠POC+∠COQ+∠AOQ=180 ̊
⇒∠POC+∠POC+∠COQ+∠COQ=180 [̊ using (i) & (ii)]
⇒2∠POC+2∠COQ=180 ̊
⇒2(∠POC+∠COQ)=180 ̊
2∠POQ=180 ̊
⇒∠POQ=90 ̊.

SECTION D
7+3√5 7−3√5
19. Find the value of a and b if - = a +√5b
3+√5 3−√5

20. In a Coeducational school a teacher conducted a mathematical quiz to solve a question

on blackboard she needs two students and prize will be given to the students who solve the
question first. For this purpose she chooses a boy and a girl.
If AB ǁ CD find x
˂1 =120 ̊(alternate interior angles)
˂1 + ˂2 = 180 ̊ (linear pair)
˂2 = 180 ̊ - 120 =̊ 60 ̊
˂3 = 100 ̊- 60 ̊= 40 ̊
˂x = 40 ̊ (corresponding angles)
