TITLE: CONCEPTUAL AND PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF A SHOE MANUFACTURING

PLANT (2021)

(Méndez et al., 2021) The layout of a manufacturing facility is very important,

particularly in the quickly automating shoe business. Although it hasn't been fully researched in
the literature, the placement of equipment and process steps can drastically shorten the amount of
time. Due to fully automated operations, the shoe business has lower levels of automation than
other industries, which makes it challenging for workers to build factories. This study combines
simulations, expert systems, and decision support systems to give a more scientific approach to
planning manufacturing facilities.

With the help of a specified set of rules based on the authors' experience, the expert system
approach is utilized to solve this issue. These guidelines are primarily drawn from technical
literature and subject-matter experts.

The expert method is built on a knowledge foundation that was previously gathered from
expert employees because of the high level of handcraft in the footwear industry. The Expert
System must have a number of elements, including flow description, relationship and
dependencies between processes, task timeframes, and utilization rate. Co-authors and footwear
industry specialists played a major role in the knowledge acquisition process. A set of rules,
however, cannot fully specify all linkages between processes and resources due to the complexity
of the production process. In order to optimize the final shoe plant design, taking into account
human and material resources as well as actual processing times, this study proposes a decision
support system coupled with an expert system.

TITLE: FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS ON CUSTOM MADE SHOES BY FAHIM TANZIM

(2019)

The development of shoes dates all the way back to 3500 B.C. It has changed to meet the
needs of different cultures. The study of fashion, which integrates economics, psychology,
sociology, social psychology, and anthropology, is a great example of interdisciplinary
cooperation. Understanding how fashion and clothing interact is crucial for making personalized
shoes. Fashion and apparel can be positively viewed or regarded as attractive and practical or
negatively as unimportant and untrustworthy. The formation of style requires combination and
separation, in accordance with Simmel's six social tendencies. Fashion and attire assist in
balancing the simultaneous requirement for people to be both social and independent.

The market's requirement for custom-made shoes is a result of the three main factors that
make up the fashion adoption process: pre-existing circumstances, guiding influences on
customers' choice and use of fashion, and a primary channel of customer decision-making. Pre-
existing conditions include fashion-conscious people looking for appropriate products to adopt or
buy. These consumers are the leaders in adoption; thus, fashion marketers concentrate on them as
their target market. In comparison to others, these leaders are more interested in fashion, look up
more information about it, spend more money, shop more frequently, and try to wear more new
clothing. (Tanzim, 2019)

TITLE: THE SHOE INDUSTRY OF MARIKINA CITY

Shoe manufacturers in Marikina City have typically concentrated their efforts on

domestic sales, marketing their goods through retail boutiques, department stores, and mail order
businesses. The industry's export capability is weak, and these efforts have slowed down
recently. Due to growing international competition, the Filipino shoe sector has been unable to
put aggressive distribution and marketing mechanisms in place.

Competitors who directly compete with them, such as Brazil, China, and Mexico, have
successfully integrated their shoe manufacturing clusters into global supply chains, luring foreign
traders and customers. The lack of major integration of the Marikina City shoe sector into global
supply chains emphasizes the necessity for more aggressive distribution and marketing methods.
This widely affects the market conditions and how could local businesses could provide unique
and suitable shoes that they could offer to the market locally and also in international market.

TITLE: AN EXPLORATION ON THE MARIKINA SHOE INDUSTRY

(Binag et al., n.d.) Making shoes is a valuable industry that contributes significantly to
the fashion sector by offering necessary accessories and defense against the elements. With the
advancement of modern production techniques, the industry has progressed from leather to
plastics and rubber, driving down costs. Animal print, floral, quotations, and faded hues are now
more frequently used in shoe designs, which are getting more imaginative.

Due to constant demand, starting a firm in the shoe manufacturing sector is advantageous
for business owners. However, achieving break-even needs a number of things, such as assuring
stability and success. The owner's initial investment and the requirement for material and product
quality upgrades determine how the business develops. Potential dangers can be reduced, the
interests of both consumers and manufacturers can be safeguarded, and compliance with national
and international legislation can be ensured. Shoe manufacturing has benefited greatly from
technology, with machines distributing work across several factory departments. This
development entails raising the standard, lowering the cost, growing the clientele, and luring new
franchisees and resellers. It is important to be able to see how your firm is developing because it
includes not just visible operations but also adjustments to your marketing tactics over the last
three years. In conclusion, the shoe industry is a crucial component of the fashion industry, and a
variety of styles, materials, and trends influence it. Initial investment, ongoing development, and
flexible marketing tactics are all necessary for successful business growth.

TITLE: CONCEPTUAL AND PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF A SHOE MANUFACTURING

PLANT (2021)

According to the research paper by Jorge Borell Mendez, David Cremades, Fernando
Nicolas, Carlo Perez-Vidal, and Jose Vicente Segura-Heras, a lot of processes are involved in the
shoe-making industry and unique components if custom-made shoes are produced. The resources
and productivity of both the analyzed methodologies are proposed as productive design choices.
There were also a lot of factors to be considered in this kind of business. This includes time per
product, efficiency, and the number of workers that will provide the operations in order to sustain
the step-by-step process in custom shoe making. The study also describes a project that was
focused on optimizing a shoe manufacturing facility using an expert system and performing
several iterations to change the production resources (human and material) through a process of
trial and error.

TITLE: FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS ON CUSTOM MADE SHOES BY FAHIM TANZIM

(2019)

Fahim Tanzim's feasibility study demonstrates the potential market demand for custom-
made shoes as well as what customers expect from their footwear. In Bangladesh, custom-made
shoes are a relatively recent industry. It has operating difficulties as well as promises. To run it
successfully, it must overcome obstacles to meet consumer needs. The suggestion from the tiny
sample size is positive, but more research on custom-made shoes is required to pinpoint it more
precisely. It is hoped that the Bangladeshi market will experience the same effects as the
international market has experienced with regard to custom-made shoes.

TITLE: THE SHOE INDUSTRY OF MARIKINA CITY

Shoe manufacturing in Marikina City is a crucial part of the fashion industry, influenced
by various styles, materials, and trends. The industry's growth is influenced by pre-existing
circumstances, guiding influences on customers' choice, and a primary channel of customer
decision-making. More and more shoe making business owners including home grown designers
are using social media as a selling platform to showcase their creations and attract more clients.
Clients are able to customize every aspect of their own shoe that fits to their needs. But
sometimes, due to traditional domestics’ sales, the industry's export capability is weak due to
international competition.

TITLE: AN EXPLORATION ON THE MARIKINA SHOE INDUSTRY

According to the research paper by the Senior High school students from Technological
Institute of the Philippines-Quezon City, the Philippines has long been able to export footwear,
which has the potential to be just as competitive as our best performing export product, clothing.
The top companies in many different nations, including the big markets we currently have in
Europe, the United States, Japan, and Australia, can't compete with Filipino design and fashion
statements. Considering the advancement of the modern technology nowadays, shoe makers are
now able to provide unique designs that could cater the wants of clients depending on the design,
sole quality, size, and other aspects that clients could think of. As we have a wide variety of shoe
making businesses in the Philippines, our government tries to help big- and small-time business
owners to promote their products by launching programs that could bring back the lost shine of
the shoe industry due to economic crisis. These programs are mostly seen on Marikina City as
this is the shoe capital of the Philippines.
