COURSE REFLECTION

Name: Cristine Jane R. Caasi

Course, Year & Section: III-BSE English B

“A complex process that requires mindful thinking and a fruitful discussion delivered
a precious lesson.”

When you first hear the term grammar, we often avoid listening to this topic because
most people are afraid and unconscious of committing mistakes in grammar. Some also have the
impression that grammar is a critical topic since it covers many aspects and conventions.
However, introducing grammar in our lesson opened our minds to the idea that this is not just
about critically thinking about appropriate words to fit in but rather identifying grammar as an
important skill that caters to abilities in a linguistic process. Interestingly speaking, the process of
making grammar is called grammaring,” which I am the first to encounter. Our lesson made me
realize that grammar is not a fixed system of rules that we need to follow but a dynamic process
that we need to understand. In dealing with a proper understanding of grammar, there are three
suggested activities: form, meaning, and use. These are applicable to making activities part of
reality.

Upon learning the information stated above, I’ve come to think that this field imposes
certain key points that we, as educators, need to know or consider in order to apply the right and
correct lessons to our future students. No one can deny that grammar is a complicated lesson that
most of the students struggle with. Personally, I encounter unconscious errors, and I admit that I
am not aware of those things. However, continuing reading and learning may teach us that those
instances are not yet over. As learners and future educators, it is our role to understand the rules
and mechanics of grammar because, shortly, it will be our responsibility and duty to teach young
minds about this subject or field. Our role is to make the lessons more comprehensible so they
can understand the processes of grammar and apply them to various bodies of knowledge.

Finally, being introduced to and witnessing the activities that cater to the acquisition of
the learning grammar in our discussion is our way of understanding more about the field, which
will help us support our future learners.
