Topic: Dental Hygiene

Overview: I plan to focus my senior project on Dental Hygiene and the skills this career requires
to become truly successful. My project will involve me looking into how certified Dental
Hygienists pursued their career and the difficult challenges they faced during their career path.
With this project, I could learn to change peoples lives with just a new or better smile.

Research Question: What are the qualified skills to become a successful Dental
Hygienist?

Objectives and Statement of Significance: Dental Hygienists have always been in


high-demand all over the world. Oral Hygiene is a big part of the human body and needs to be
taken care of just as much as any other part of your body. My whole life I've always just wanted
to put a smile on everyone's face, and working in a Dental office, I can do just that and even
more. I can always have a positive effect on someone's day or even someone's life.

Mentor Plan:
● I plan to do an on job shadowing of a Hygienist working on a patient.
● I am available to meet my mentor on any off day and every other weekend.
● I hope to work with someone who is just as dedicated as I am to show me the challenging
strategies to becoming a Dental Hygienist.

Product Plan:
● For my product, I plan on demonstrating the correct way of tooth brushing using the right
technique and toothbrush on a 3D Tooth Model. The one thing Dentists always focus on
is the correct way of brushing..
● The materials I will need will include a toothbrush, a 3D tooth model.
● I have extra Reach toothbrushes at home that have never been used. I could find a 3D
tooth model in a Dentist office or order one offline.
● While searching different online websites, I would spend approximately $13-$53 on a
tooth model.
Problems and Solutions: One problem that might occur would be if my mentor has some rules
or regulations that may cause my shadowing to be limited. I would find ways to try and get some
hands-on experience and learn as much as I can.
