OVERVIEW/PROJECT DESCRIPTION FROM LETTER OF INTENT:

I am still continuing with the topic of orthodontics/dentistry but I am bringing it to a simpler level to
explain to kids. Alysia Booker and I also want to give the kids toothpaste, toothbrushes and dental
floss so they can keep up and maintain good hygiene.

GOALS: Your goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely (S.M.A.R.T.)

Our main goal is to help kids in the hospital in a way where they also learn about the importance of
keeping up with personal hygiene.

RESEARCH CONNECTION: How does your project/product connect your research you’ve completed?

This project connects to my pride paper because I wrote my paper on orthodontics and teaching kids
about brushing their teeth properly and stuff like that is a branch of orthodontics and dentistry in a way

BACKGROUND: What do you already know about the topic?

I feel like I know a fair amount after writing my pride paper and spending 3 work days at Dr Paquettes
office and watching his day to day office life

TIMELINE: List your timeline below illustrating how you plan to spend half of your hours on the project.
I plan to spend my hours by finding a way to get toothpaste, toothbrushes and dental floss for
the kids whether that is through a fundraiser or contacting a local dentist or even a big
toothpaste company name. I also plan on contacting hospitals and setting times and also doing
all the smaller tasks involved in this project.

EVIDENCE: What will you produce to demonstrate that you have successfully completed this project?

I can maybe videotape the visit to the hospital or take pictures and make a slideshow with
descriptions and talk about what Alysia and I did and how the kids liked our little presentation.
