Fourth Grade News

A Peek at our Month
Upcoming Dates
November 3 - Book Bingo 6:45-7:45 Reading
November 8 - Picture retakes
In reading we will begin looking at the important
elements in stories, such as characters, setting, and plot.
November 9 - No early childhood
We will work to identify these elements and explain
classes
how they are important to the overall story.
November 10 - NO SCHOOL
(Veteran’s Day observance) Math
November 13 - Band/Orchestra concert In November we will work on unit 3 and continue
7:00 pm learning different strategies for breaking up big
multiplication problems into smaller problems. We will
November 22-24 - NO SCHOOL also work on solving division problems and discuss what
(Thanksgiving break) to do with remainders. We will begin unit 4 which
teaches students how to measure and classify shapes.
Reminders Students will practice logging into the testing website
that we use at the end of the year and do a practice
-Family Response Journals (FRJ) test.

Science
-Bring recorders for music class
In science we will begin our second unit “Vision and Light.”
They will investigate what senses animals have and how they
use these senses to gather information and survive in the
wild. We will do several hands-on activities to help us learn.
