CULTURA VENEZOLANA INGLES

Venezuelan culture is a melting pot

that fundamentally integrates three
different families: the indigenous, the
African and the Spanish. The first two
in turn had differentiated cultures
according to the tribes.
Transculturation and assimilation,
typical of a cultural syncretism,
conditioned to reach the current
Venezuelan culture, similar in many
aspects to the rest of Latin America,
although the natural environment
causes important differences.

The indigenous influence is limited to

some words in the lexicon and
gastronomy. The African influence in
the same way, in addition to musical
instruments such as the drum. The
Spanish influence was more important
and in particular came from the
regions of Andalusia and
Extremadura, places of origin of the
majority of settlers in the Caribbean
area during the colonial era. As an
example of this we can mention the
buildings, part of the music, the
Catholic religion and the language.
An evident Spanish influence are the
bullfights and certain features of the
gastronomy.

THE BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF

VENEZUELA WAS ALSO ENRICHED BY
OTHER CURRENTS OF ANTILLEAN AND
EUROPEAN ORIGIN IN THE 19TH
CENTURY, ESPECIALLY THOSE OF
FRENCH ORIGIN. IN A MORE RECENT
STAGE, DEMONSTRATIONS OF
AMERICAN ORIGIN AND NEW
IMMIGRATION OF SPANISH, ITALIAN
AND PORTUGUE ORIGIN BROKE OUT IN THE
BIG CITIES AND OIL REGIONS,
INCREASING THE ALREADY COMPLEX
CULTURAL MOSAIC. THUS, FOR
EXAMPLE, FROM THE UNITED STATES
COMES THE INFLUENCE OF THE TASTE
FOR BASEBALL AND CURRENT
ARCHITECTURAL CONSTRUCTIONS.

Cultural Policy
Article 98. Cultural creation is free. This
freedom includes the right to investment,
production and dissemination of creative,
scientific, technological and humanistic
work, including the legal protection of
the author's rights over their works."
Article 99. The values of culture
constitute an inalienable asset of the
Venezuelan people and a fundamental
right that the State will promote and
guarantee, seeking the necessary
conditions, legal instruments, means and
budgets.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,
through its different Diplomatic and
Consular Missions, has deployed a
strategy to promote culture in the
international arena or Venezuelan
cultural diplomacy. The concept of
culture is understood in a very broad
sense that encompasses fine arts, the
cultural industry, crafts, popular culture,
architecture, design, cinema, the media,
gastronomy, sports, among others.
