Mental Health &
Wellness

'Providing a path to wellness'

Dave Johnson is the on-site Psychotherapist responsible for

overseeing the Counselling service here at BU London.

The counselling service, should you require it, is an opportunity

for you to meet me in a safe, confidential setting and explore
areas of your life you would like help with.

The BU Study Abroad program has an obvious academic focus but

is also intended to develop areas of your character. Being away
from familiar surroundings, high academic expectations, and the
absence of friends and loved ones for an extended period, can
cause an overwhelming state of anxiety for some. But please
remember you are not alone and this situation will affect every
student on the program to some degree.

Whilst not exhaustive, former BU students I have worked with

have seen me for some of the following issues:

Addictions, anxiety, cancer, childhood trauma and abuse,

depression, relational issues, panic attacks, personal coaching,
religious issues, self-confidence, self-esteem, suicidality.

Whilst therapy can’t necessarily take away issues that bother you,
it can help you cope with events, and the experiences and
feelings they bring up in you. Students have told me how at ease
and safe they feel with me and that they can be themselves;
sometimes talking about issues, feelings and experiences they
haven’t felt able to share with another person.

I believe that you have the abilities, experiences and insights to

improve your own life, so my role as a therapist isn’t to fix you
but to help you discover areas for the change you would like to
make.

To make an appointment, simply drop by and see me at the

Harrington Gardens building, Tel: 0207 244 6255 or Email:
studentlife@bu-london.co.uk

Available for appointments: 10am-5pm Monday and Friday.

Getting a Mobile Phone

"Your perfect phone awaits!"

To purchase a UK mobile or sim card we would
recommend Carphone Warehouse (Inside Currys
on Kensington High Street). They are very used
to international students and your particular
requirements and can offer you plans with most
of the UK's main operators at very competitive
rates. (Ensure your phone is unlocked to allow it
to accept a SIM card from different carriers
during your time abroad)

As a comparison store they'll be able to talk you

through all the associated perks and benefts of
each of their networks and help find a phone
plan that suits you.
For more information:
https://www.carphone
warehouse.com

NEED OTHER OPTIONS

In the unlikely event that Carphone Warehouse don't
provide your perfect deal or phone then you can find
most major UK phone companies on the major high
streets of London, including Kensington High Street
and the King's Road.

Popular brands include Three, O2, Vodafone, Tesco

Mobile, Giff Gaff & EE. Giff Gaff have been recognised
as the UK's 'network of the year' and offer free sim
cards upon request.

As you live in London, you shouldn't have to worry

about the connection. All the operators offer a strong
signal in the capital and major cities..
