 KL-9 Ankle System

Introduction

The KAULMED's KL-9 Ankle System is an Internal fixation

locking plate system that constitute variable angle plates and
screw that allow a fixed angle construct at desired screw
angulation, 15° off normal axis or variable angulation within 30°
cone to treat fractures and non-unions of the ankle region. The
low profile and anatomic design of plates reduce the risk of soft
tissue irritation. The system consists of specific implants with
optimized shapes and screw configuration offering particular
bio-mechanical requirement for Ankle. The system allows the
surgeon to choose their preferred solution that includes options
for the medial, anteromedial, anterolateral and posteolateral
aspects of distal tibia, and the lateral distal fibula.

The multi directional angular screw positioning supports the

fixation of individual fracture fragments in case of complex
fractures, thus enabling early mobilization. The system work on
AO principles of fracture reduction, fracture fixation, blood
supply preservation and safe mobilization.

The combination of sophisticated yet user-friendly

instrumentation that utilize variable angle locking technology
reduces surgical complexity and ensures familiar technique.

━ Variable angle hole allows minimum screw prominence creating low profile construct when used at nominal
angle and can be angled within a 30 conical angle around the central axis of plate hole.
━ The shaft holes are combined holes of Non-locking and Locking (variable angle) type. The Non-locking

━ Provides axial compression and the variable angle locking section provides angular stability.
━ The distal holes are variable locking type to facilitate fixation of metaphyseal and epiphyseal segments.
━ The K-wire holes are provided for provisional reduction of fragments and to confirm the position of plate

Indications and Contraindications

The KL-9 Ankle system is intended for fixation of the ankle in adults and adolescents in which the growth plates have
fused, and particularly in osteopenic bone.
