nk telematics data.
Ownership costs
Transaction price defaults to the regional average from dealer APEX data.
Resale value auto populates based on ownership period (1 to 20 years) and is sourced from regional Caterpillar Used -
Equipment data, which is comprised of actual used equipment sales results over the last 5 years. The results are provi-
ded in an auto generated supporting document which can be accessed via the supporting documents link in the resale -
section. The original source file isn't provided due to its size and statistical formula complexity.
Auto populated resale values are calculated by taking the user entered price and applying the resale value % of new m-
achine price from the Caterpillar Used Equipment data. This philosophy assumes traditional dealer margins, where the -
user entered machine price reflects machine value including configuration details that would ultimately impact the res-
ale value when appraised. Although VST resale values are a great starting point, we recommend users work with their -
used equipment department to further localize resale values.
Operating costs
Caterpillar fuel consumption defaults per model based on the regional average from VisionLink telematics data. Com-
petitor fuel consumption defaults utilizing % offsets from either, regional production study data compared to the Cater-
pillar reference model of similar size class or from regional / local knowledge.
Caterpillar total maintenance & repair (TM&R) auto populates every 250 hour usage increment and is sourced from BUI-
LDER data, reflecting regional parts pricing and labor rates. Competitor TM&R data auto populates utilizing either, third-
party study data or regional / local knowledge, with % offsets applied to the Caterpillar reference model data of similar -
size class. Depending, the Caterpillar reference model could be the predecessor model or the latest NPI model. Cons-
ult the Value Selling Team for additional information. The results are provided in an auto generated supporting docum-
ent which can be accessed via the supporting documents link in the maintenance section. Additional supporting docu-
ments might also be provided (when available) to show actual study results, however, these are ONLY for reference an-
d to provide direction. VST auto populated data might not reflect actual study results. When a specific study isn't avai-
lable, an average % offset is used which is derived from multiple third party studies, across multiple product families w-
ithin a given region. Although VST TM&R values are a great starting point, we recommend users work with their produ-
ct support department to further localize TM&R values.
