Adjectives and Prepositions

Look at these examples to see how adjectives are used with prepositions: ( mira estos ejemplos para ver
como se usan los adjetivos con las preposiciones.)
GRAMMAR:
- Some adjectives go with certain prepositions.There are no grammatical rules for prepositions is used
with wich adjective, so it is a good idea to try to learn them together.
- To help you do this, write new vocabulary in your notebook in a sentence or phrase. (algunos
adjetivos van con ciertas preposiciones. No hay reglas gramaticales para que preposicion se usa, asi
que es Buena idea tartar de aprenderlos juntos.)
- However, there are some patterns that can help you. Let´s look at them first. ( sin embargo hay
algunos patrones que te pueden ayudar)
- Remember that prepositions is followed by a noum or a gerund. (-ing form). ( recuerda que las
preposiciones van seguidas de un sustantivo o un gerundio. (forma – ing).
WITH “AT”
- We use “ at” with adjectives like : good/bad/amazing/brilliant/terrible, etc. (usaremos “at” con
adjetivos como: amlo/asombroso/brillante/terrible, etc)

- However sometimes we use of with feelings ( sin embargo aveces lo usamos con sentimientos)
EXAMPLES:
1. She was afraid of telling her mom. (ella tenia miedo de decirle a su mama)
2. I am frightened of having an accident. ( tengo miedo de tener un accidente.)
WITH “ TO”
- We can use “to” to show the conection between people or things ( Podemos usar “to “ para mostrar
la coneccion entre personas y cosas)
EXAMPLES:
- We can also use to talk about someone´s behavior towards someone else. ( Tambien Podemos suar
para hablar sobre el comportamiento de alguien ahcia otra persona)

1. They were really friendly to me. ( ellos fueron muy amables conmigo)
2. She was very rude to the waitress. ( ella fue muy grosera con el mesero)
Here are some other useful adjectives with prepositions. ( aqui hay otros adjetivos con preposiciones)
WITH “FOR”
EXAMPLES:
- The town is famous for its cheese.(la ciudad es famosa por su queso)
- Stress is bad for you. (el estres es malo para ti)
WITH “IN ”

Sara: Hi there, how was your day? (Hola, ¿cómo estuvo tu día?)
Juan: It was quite stressful. I had to deal with a lot of tight deadlines. (Fue bastante estresante. Tuve que lidiar
con muchas fechas límite ajustadas.)
Sara: I can imagine. It's challenging to work under pressure. (Puedo imaginarlo. Es desafiante trabajar bajo
presión.)
Juan: Yes, it's a relief that the day is over. Now, I can finally relax at home. (Sí, es un alivio que el día haya
terminado. Ahora, finalmente puedo relajarme en casa.)
Sara: That sounds like a good plan. Enjoy your evening with some relaxation. (Eso suena como un buen plan.
Disfruta tu noche con algo de relajación.)
Juan: Thanks, I appreciate your understanding. (Gracias, aprecio tu comprensión.)
