one of the most challenging areas in the education system. The ever –

Students’ attitudes regarding the purposes for reading also influence their
ability to read. If students want to get the most out of the materials they are
assigned, they have to learn to read critically or analytically. The idea here is

First, learners will be exposed to reading materials using their mother tongue
which is Tagalog. These stories are short and composed of 5 to 6 sentences. Each
story has 5 questions to be answered by the learners after reading. Answering can
be done orally or in a written form. In the preliminary, the teacher will motivate
the learners and unlock some difficult words so that their vocabulary will also be
developed.
Second, same stories will be presented but this time it will be presented in
poem but the last word of each line is blank. The learners will supply the missing
For the third activity, teacher will then remove the strip of paper so that the
learners will be the one to supply the missing word. This is done to develop their
