Narrative description of the Project: The overall objective of this study is to provide reliable estimate of the
economic costs of IPV in Ethiopia. The estimates provided by this research will contribute to deepen the
understanding among policy makers, political leaders, Nongovernment Organizations (NGOs), communities and
families of the full cost of inaction in addressing violence. This objective can be broken down into the following
three specific objectives: To estimate the annual direct costs for households related to incidents of violence
(includes costs associated with seeking services for medical care such as physical and mental), shelter,
mediation (NGOs, local resolution), and judicial resolution as well as consumption costs related to the
replacement of property; To estimate the indirect costs including income loss due to missed work, loss of
reproductive labor, children’s health and children’s school performance; and To estimate the annual service
provision costs across sectors including health, police, judicial and social.

Narrative description of the Project: Assignment for the Gender Audit were separated into six tasks: To assess
the level of effort and achievements in integrating gender, identifying strengths, areas of improvement, threats,
and opportunities within the institutions in high-level strategy development, implementation of relevant policies,
programming and service delivery, budgeting, human resource management, and partnership, To support the
development of guidelines, procedures, action plans, and staffing structures for effective gender integration, To
track the progress made in integrating gender since the last Gender Audit and the extent to which the
recommendations from the previous audits are implemented, To explore the level of staff understanding and
perception towards gender integration, To establish baseline information regarding gender integration in all

Narrative description of the Project: The main objectives of the assignment are to conduct a situation analysis of
agribusiness, agroindustry and allied industries in the four IAIPs (and related ACPZs) and conducting gender
analysis of the agro-industry sector with gender action points. Thus, stand-alone reports will be prepared for the
situation analysis of agribusiness, agroindustry and allied industries in the four IAIPs, and gender analysis and
gender action points.
The results of the study will inform the project implementation teams on the baseline, guide in determining areas
for intervention, and track the progress made from the interventions of the projects.

Narrative description of the Project: The general objective of this assignment is to identify opportunities and
innovative approaches to increasing the demand for and improving the supply of health and protection services.
This formative research has two major components. The first component focuses on conducting meta-synthesis
to provide systemic overview and analysis of existing research and the focus for the second part of the research
will depend on the outcomes of the meta-synthesis and additional questions to be generated for the program
implementation. Based on the meta-synthesis, gaps will be identified that need further attention and qualitative,
in-depth investigation. The second part of the formative research will also complement the missing data and
information through primary data collection.

Narrative description of the Project: The overarching goal of the proposed panel study is to identify factors
constraining female farmers’ productivity and to develop intervention recommendations to tackle the existing
productivity differentials. In view of this understanding, one of the main objectives of the proposed study is to
collect men and women’s time use, agricultural labor use, making and implementing of decisions involved in
organizing and operating a farm (farm management), differentiated returns to farm labor and other factors, and
data on labor market conditions that are differently faced by male and female headed households. The study
woredas and kebeles are selected from the RLLP watersheds in the 4 national regional states in collaboration
with the World Bank project team (GIL team). Frontieri is expected to undertake 1,200 household interviews in a
baseline survey plus in 12 repeated waves, high frequency labor data collection for each of the male and female
plot managers and plots of the 1200 sample households. We are expected to support the conduct of a
complementary qualitative research, as well.

The objective of the consultancy is to conduct market and technical analyses study in order to identify income
generating activities/investment opportunities through market, value chain and social analyses for long list of
livelihood activities expressed by the community during community livelihood plan development.

About 8 agro-pastoralists woredas from the targeted regions of Somali, Afar, SNNPR and Oromia (Two Woereda
from each)
About 4 Woredas from Somali and Afar (two from each) were selected from pure pastoralist areas of Somali and
Afar Regional States.
Within the four regional states, we approached a total of 120 households, out of which 40 HHS from the pure
pastoralist, while the remaining 80 from agro-pastoralist. The total proposed kebele is assumed to be 24.

Narrative description of Project: The general objective of this consultancy assignment is to profile the capacity of
the business enterprises (medium and large export enterprises, women and youth entrepreneurs) as well as to
conduct a comprehensive capacity development needs assessment at the national level. The purpose is to
understand capacity assets and needs and build a consensus regarding capacity development priorities and
thereby bring valuable input into a National Capacity Development Program for the Private Sector. The ensuing
capacity assessment, therefore, generate an overview of priorities for capacity development within the enabling
environment and in some cases within particular organizations across the private sector.
To fulfil the above objectives, high quality data was collected through FGDs with peoples from the strategic sub-
sectors (e.g., leather, textile, metal and engineering, agro-processing, Cement, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and
Sugar) in selected cities. Women owned businesses, youths, exporters and peoples working on human resource
and organizational development in the above sub-sectors were part of the focus group discussion. Similarly, KII
with different official was held for more analysis. Case studies were also undertaken with selected private
enterprises.
We have completed the Country Profiling and developed a draft strategy for private sector development with due
attention to the manufacturing industry.
