FCE Essentials 1 | Test 3

You hear many people say that travelling by public

means of transport it's better than using cars. But is that
really true?
It seems to me that most of us are encouraged to use
public transport instead of cars because of “pollution”.
However, buses use polluting fuel as well. We now
have electric and hybrid cars, which are certainly more
environmentally-friendly than buses.
It is true that travelling by car may be expensive,
because of the always rising gas prices. Bus tickets,
however, are the same price if you travel to the end of
the line or only the next station.
If you're in a hurry to get somewhere, you drive your
own car there. Buses stop often, at many stations, and
the drivers aren’t exactly...fast.
Taking all this into account, I believe there are clear
advantages in travelling by personal car instead of
using public transport.
