Summary
In the 1960s, Caleb Gattegno created a language-learning technique called The Silent Way. Its distinctive
method of teaching languages is what makes it distinctive. The Silent Way is unique in that it places a
strong emphasis on learner autonomy and employs tangible tools to speed up language acquisition.
Students gain a deeper understanding of the language's structure and meaning by reducing teacher speech
and promoting student interaction with these tools. The approach places a strong emphasis on inductive
learning, allowing students to infer principles and patterns through practical investigation. Because The
Silent Way offers immediate feedback and promotes self-correction, it is especially helpful for teaching
pronunciation.
Students are given the tools they need to become independent language learners who are skilled in both
the formal aspects of the language and its everyday applications thanks to this novel method of teaching.

My personal opinion about the topic
I think this method is only useful for a medium or an advanced level on English students. Because for a
beginner class is very important to speak and explain students the correct pronunciation of a word. It can be
kind of confuse the chart method. Is a very useful method if you want to develop student´s self reliance and
inner criteria, because with this method students learn by themselves. This method could be boring to
students so I suggest not to use this method in all classes.
