Design and Analysis of Gantry Crane

Abstract

Material handling in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, transportation, and

logistics, depends heavily on gantry cranes. A gantry crane system's efficiency and safety are
improved by the thorough analysis and design optimisation shown in this study. Examining
factors including load capacity, span, and environmental conditions, the research focuses on
the structural design, control system, and operational performance of the crane. The crane's
stability and structural integrity are guaranteed by the structural analysis, which combines
stress analysis and finite element modelling. Creating sophisticated control algorithms is part
of the control system design, which aims to increase overall operational effectiveness, load
sway reduction, and positioning precision. The addition of contemporary sensors and safety
features, such collision avoidance, also addresses safety concerns. The optimisation of
efficiency entails analysing power usage, load handling time, and total productivity. The study
aims to maximise the crane's performance while reducing wear and tear and energy
consumption using simulation and data analysis. A gantry crane design that maximises
efficiency, minimises operating hazards, and decreases downtime is anticipated as a result of
the findings.
