The analysis is conducted for 300 companies in each -nancial year that contributed to the education

sector through a consolidated commitment of INR 13805.05 Cr. from FY16-17 to FY20-21 through a
total number of 8010 projects

19-20 saw the highest spent of INR 3184.48 Cr. on the education projects. , possibly due to because
of the COVID-19 pandemic

Maharashtra ranks at the top in receiving CSR budget for education across all the -nancial years.

Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is an emerging area in terms of CSR amount spent and
the number of projects implemented within education.

Ed-Tech and Educational Infrastructure are two of the emerging areas for investing in educational
projects in the coming financial years.

Across the financial years, top 80 companies contribute almost 80% of the total CSR contribution in
educational sector.

Across all the -nancial years, the company that ranks the highest in terms of the amount spent on
educational projects is Reliance Industries Limited. It ranks as the top company across all the FY16-
17 to FY20-21 spending on an educational project. Among other leading companies that have been
spending in education are WIPRO Limited, NTPC Limited, Tata Steel Limited, Tata Consultancy
Services Limited.

Oil, Drilling, Lubricants & Petrochemicals; Banking & Finance; Metals, Mining & Mineral; and
Computer Software/ IT are some of the heavily investing sectors in education projects.
Maharashtra is the most preferred state with the maximum CSR amount spent and the maximum
number of projects implemented in India, followed by Karnataka, which receives the highest funding
for educational projects e

Odisha has received the most increased funding for educational projects.
