ITC’s core areas, reducing morbidity, especially amongst women and children, by promoting a
clean and healthy environment.

economically marginalized groups: This will be enabled through improvement of public health
programs (e.g. on malnutrition, maternal and child health, health and pollution, mental health
and disability), change in health policies (e.g. promoting gender equality, tobacco control,
healthy lifestyles) and strengthening public health systems access and delivery (e.g. utilizing
technology and skilled human resources to better delivery of and access to services especially
primary health). Several of these areas are covered under national and state health
programmes.

music forms and sports as well. To ensure this, ITC established the prestigious ITC Sangeet

Hindustani Classical Music. This initiative aimed at creating an institutional substitute for India's
ancient tradition of royal patronage of the arts. It was also a path breaking experiment in
reviving India's age-old tradition of 'guru-shishya parampara', a knowledge management process
in which teachers and students live together to facilitate continuous learning.

behind CSR is for corporations to pursue other pro-social objectives, in addition to maximizing
profits. In conclusion ITC has done it all nicely.
