was allotted to me.
2. The green management followed in the organization
3. How they plan to save environment and perform activities that may lead to green

2
WHAT IS GREEN MANAGEMENT?

Green management is basically a activity in which it is observed that how much you are
aware of environmental working practices or production methods that impact the
environment and making changes that makes business more sustainable. These include
reducing the use of water, energy that we use and minimize the amount of waste we generate
nowadays.

A company can be turned into green management when they help to improve air quality by
excluding chemicals and other supplies that is harmful. Companies can reuse some items
such as dishes, utensils, cups etc. by washing them after use instead of purchasing new
disposals or throwing them out after use.

“Green” products or services uses less resources and are made to last for a longer period of
time, minimise their impact on the nature or environment.

Going green for the company is being benefiting as for instance by printing less, turning off
lights when not in use. Reusing items and recycling them also reduces the waste generated
from plastic.

GREEN MANAGEMENT IN

CISCO SYSTEMS

Protecting the environment and sustainability these are the two prior things at CISCO. Their
approach to protect the environment has been set as a long-term goal that impacts their
products and business operations. Their most environmental issue is energy and greenhouse
gases, and implementing economy principles to conserve the earths resources.

From 2009 cisco have committed to work and play, learn in eco-friendly way. They are
reducing their own carbon footprint, engaging customers and employees in effort to balance
the impact on environment to help address climate change. On march 03, 2008 they even
launched a programme as cisco green.

Cisco there took opportunity to minimize their impact at every side of business and supply
chain and reduce energy use and greenhouse gas.

Building energy efficiency

In last five year, they have implemented over 440 efficient projects on energy
that somewhere reduce costs and emissions.

Product energy efficiency

They are developing more efficient thermal systems, reducing power loss and
providing higher-performance power supplies.

Renewable energy

locations where they operate.

4
WASTE AND RECYCLING

that is been collected.
The greatest part of Constructing Waste are also been recycled by cisco.
Converting kitchen oil to bio-diesel is also their part of activity.
Café garbage is composted at a rate of 3.5 tonnes per year which is a huge number.
The office materials which are in excess or are left over are donated to local schools.
Compost from Milpitas is converted into energy.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT

❖ In U.S. the cisco is 7th largest green power purchaser. They have purchased 373
million kwh power.
❖ Cisco’s US energy initiative has saved 74 million kilowatt hours, generated over 2
million in energy rebates, and avoided the production of 21 million pounds of CO2
since 2006.

commodity.

5
CORPORATE SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)

STRATEGY
For receiving CSR related funding, CISCO will be going to work with non-profit and non-
governmental organizations (NGO). Cisco will also collaborate with countries whose
missions fit with our areas of concentration.

PROGRAMS
As a part of CSR programs CISCO plans to make interventions and investments in education
and healthcare sector.

1. Education

CISCO wants to make schools in target areas where they can use government schools as
network and bring many partners to ascertain sustainable infrastructure and new learning
solutions for children and the society as large. That can include mid-day meals, sanitation
rainwater harvesting systems, pure drinking water facility, awareness and health screening.

This will also help to get remote education, all over access to internet facility and technical
developments. This would also include scholarships to girls, access to library labs etc.

2. Healthcare:

Cisco is in need of hospitals that offers them low cost or free services to poor or needy
patients by starting such hospitals to provide advance patient care, as the main global vision
of cisco is to change the way we work, live, play and learn. Cisco will also work as a partner
with any one of the existing hospitals, improvise their infrastructure and enable better patient
care for poor family backgrounds or needy people.

7
NON-PROFIT ORGANISATION
❖ Strategic Planning For NPO

Non-profit organisation is mostly founded for handling the issues related to public or social.
The strategic planning for a NPO can help them to understand the work and develop the
understanding of purpose they want to serve the community as a whole.

Let’s take an example of a non-profit organization who want to serve people for their lively
hood, shelter facility and providing food to them.

So, there should be following things kept in mind while planning: -

I. Mission
This will define what is the actual purpose of their starting and express their
organization mission. This could be a short statement that addresses the questions
"Why do we exist?" "What do we do on the most fundamental level?" and "Why are
we here?"

II. Vision
The vision for the organization should be clear to serve them without considering any
profit out of it and at what particular issue they are stating that should be for
betterment of world and free from that said issue, be it for healthcare or hunger etc.

An organization ‘s vision would usually tell the project’s future, their terms of growth
and scope of budget and staff.

III. Values
Non-profits are based on a set of values and these organization's identity is formed by
these values. These values will aid in defining the organization's strategy for
achieving its objective. As a result, an organization's values statement informs its
operations, initiatives, and planning, including the strategic planning process. The
values statement addresses the question, "What do we believe in?"

8
IV. Goals and objective
This will actually tell what is their desired outcome and what they want to achieve.
But Smart goals are different from objectives in that they are more thorough and far-
reaching as they may respond to the question of what the organization's goals are. The
main part is also that the progress and result of completing the organization goals and
objective should be measurable.

V. Tactics and strategies

The above goals and objective cannot be taken into consideration without tactics and
strategies. The organization's tactics and strategies are techniques or sets of activities
that must be followed with aim to achieve the organization's objectives. They are, in
the most fundamental sense & the organization's plans for carrying out its mission.

VI. Implementation of strategic plan

As this is the final step that would be taken by non-profit organisation would serves as
a guide to the strategic plan. This step will tell us the actual cost that would be
incurring, how much duration would be taken to complete the planning, and
accountability of each tactic and strategies.
The organization's specific priorities are addressed in the implementation plan.

9
PROFIT ORGANISATION

❖ Strategic Plan For Profit Organisation

In an profit making organisation a systematic process for developing is done to achieve
organisation’s direction an that would too lead to achieve their future vision and outline
metrics for measuring success. A strategic plan in profit organisation can be created at any
time and should be regularly revisited. That can be about company new venture like a new
product, taking check on when new regulation or trends affect the business environment. The
following points can be taken by a profit-making organisation while planning: -

I. Understanding your business

First of all, find out where your business stands today. This would include reviewing
the core organisation information their vision, mission and core values. Write out
“What are the major ambitious goals?”, “What could be the largest possible vision of
the organisation?”

II. Analyse Your Strengths, Weaknesses, and Threats

A SWOT analysis is core evaluation technique that can provide insight into where the
business should focus and give a better understanding of industry and customers both.
This could even help us to know better about competitive advantages, and give you a
heads up on your threats that would lead to growth.

III. Defining objectives and setting goals

Taking down the specific objective that will help to achieve vision. That may me
launching a new product and trying different strategies. Setting goals can only be
successful only if you meet them, so its important for-profit organisation to measure
its success.

IV. Putting the plan into action

Once the objectives are focused then action steps are taken and tasks are checked
regularly. Reviewing the plan helps to track the performance and progress accordingly

10
NON-PROFIT V/S PROFIT ORGANISATION
STRATEGIC PLANNING

➢ Major difference between non-profit and profit organization is of staffing.

NPO they are usually having unpaid volunteer that mostly do the work.
On other hand, the profit organisation they have paid staff.
➢ The purpose of a non-profit organization aims to make enough money that will help
them to further operate.
And for-profit organization the purpose is to return dividends to shareholders or profit
to the holder’s or owners on time.
➢ One of the common noticeable differences between non-profit and profit organization
is from they all get inputs.
Non- profit organisation usually invites outside stakeholder, such as those who can
support or benefit from organisation work, are frequently invited to participate in
strategic planning.
In profit organization, the reliability come on the employees and consultants, that
they may assist in the analysis and creation of visions
