AMAZING NESTS

A bird’s home is called nest. Birds build them to lay eggs and
to take care of their chicks. Birds build their nest using twigs,
branches, leaves, mud and sometimes even by saliva. Each
bird has their unique way of lifestyle and unique way of
building their nest. Some nests are very easy while some are
very hard to build. Usually the nest is built by the female
birds. But in some cases the male birds or both birds build
the nest. The largest nest ever found was built by the bald
eagle. The bald eagle builds its nest high on top of the
mountain, tree or rocks. The weaver bird has most
interesting way of building its nest. The weaver bird uses
leaves and vines to weave its nest. It is considered as one of
the most complicated and beautiful nest. The nest hangs
from tree branches. Sometimes there might be more than
one nest in one tree. Usually a male weaver bird builds the
nest. The entrance to the nest is from below. The top is
enclosed by weaved leaves and vines. While a weaver bird
weaves its own nest, cuckoo does not build a nest by itself. A
cuckoo will lay its egg in another bird’s nest and flies away.
Generally cuckoo lays its egg in either a crow’s nest or a
warbler’s nest. Some birds build a simple nest. Flamingos
gather mud and will form a pile of mud. They create a small
hollow and place their eggs there. They build it near their
colony. The nest is protected from flood as it is raised.
Penguins have different technique. Female penguins lay egg
and give it to the male penguins. The female penguins then
will leave for hunting. The male penguins place their egg in
between their feet and walk with it. The male penguins make
sure the egg gets enough warm from their body.
