4 CONDITIONAL TYPES - SAME VERBS, DIFFERENT MEANINGS

1. Type Zero: “If I study, I pass the exam”


(presented as a fact, as a rule, a general situation in the real world)
2. Type One: “If I study, I will pass the exam”
(a specific situation in the real present world)
3. Type Two: “If I studied, I would pass the exam”
(hypothetical situation, unreal world)
4. Type Three: “If I had studied, I would have passed the exam”
(imaginary situation, regret; in real life I didn’t study and I failed)
