My artwork is a drawing of a pumpkin. The pumpkin is the subject matter in the drawing.

It is the only thing there is and it is a bright color. The background of the drawing is black. The

pumpkin is orange, green and brown.

My artwork is made from paper and colored pencils. I started this project by drawing the

outline for the pumpkin. After I did that I started coloring the lighter spots on the pumpkin. Next

I did the darker spots and the shading. Then I colored the stem of the pumpkin. Finally I colored

the background completely black.

The big idea behind this work was that it showed different principles of art. The priciples

that I shower were line, color, shape, and texture. I used differnt lines and shapes to make the

pumpkin itself. Then I used color on the pumpkin. I also tried to make the pumpkin look

textured.

My goals for this project were to become better at using colored pencils. I think it was

good practice but I still could improve. I'm not very good at shading with them.

In creating this artwork I learned that the principles of art are very important. Any time

you create something it uses at least one of the principles. I will definitely think about that more

when making projects in the future.
