Lord Arthur Savile's Crime: book review

By Isabella Roldán

This story is part of a collection of comedy and mystery

stories written by Oscar Wilde in 1891, which also
includes: The Canterville Ghost, The Sphinx Without a
Secret and The Model Millionaire.

The story tells how in a royal party, Lord Arthur, a young

British man who is soon to be married meet to a
palmreader which apparently can discover the people's
secrets and their future, when he examines the Lord
Arthur hand's, tells him that he is going to commit murder.
Lord Arthur believes in this terrible prediction, so decides
he should kill someone before his marriage. Who will he
kill? How will he do it? Everything is answered in this entertaining story.

If you want to read social parody and satire this is an ideal story. I really liked it because
it is unexpected, so you keep reading to know how the protagonist deals with the
situations, at the same time it is fun and mysterious, a great combination. Also at the end
you got a teaching message.

There isn't anything I don’t like about the story, I think the author uses understanding
vocabulary and the extension of the text is appropriate, if you are a normal-fast reader
you will finish it very fast.
I recommend this story, my rating is 5/5
