Why is Buddha’s Teaching on medicine still topical?

Tibetan Medicine is considered to have its roots in
Buddhist Medicine.
The Buddha's Teaching on this topic is found in his
famous Discourse TOTAL PACIFICATION OF ALL
DISEASES, given at Vulture Peak around 500 B.C.
Verily, in this Discourse there are the roots not only of
Tibetan, but of all modern medicine, outlined for the
first time by means of scientific observations. The
Buddha could become an "unequalled physician", after
he personally experienced great starvation and danger of
life. He could recover with the aid of a group of "sage
physicians", who became his teachers, and to whom the
Discourse is dedicated.
The study of Buddha's Discourse, in its most
acknowledged version, has been carried out by the
Tibetan student of Medicine Tsewang J. Tsarong with
Giuseppe Campanella, former professor of Neurology
in the University of Naples, Italy.
Dr Campanella will report their results, which will be
open to discussion.
