Introduction

 I would like to introduce my presenting of Buddhism and science

together with all my friend. Buddhism is all about science, if science
is the systematic pursuit of the accurate knowledge of reality, the
science is Buddhism, Buddhism and science.
Buddhism and science

What is science?
used to develop new technologies

 Science is exciting. Science is a way of discovering what's in the universe and how those
things work today, how they worked in the past, and how they are likely to work in the
future. Scientists are motivated by the thrill of seeing or figuring out something that no one
has before.
 Science is useful. The knowledge generated by science is powerful and reliable. It can be
used to develop new technologies, treat diseases, and deal with many other sorts of
problems.
 Science is ongoing. Science is continually refining and expanding our knowledge of the
universe, and as it does, it leads to new questions for future investigation. Science will never
be "finished."
 Science is a global human endeavor. People all over the world participate in the process of
science.
Science `the study of logic and mathematics.
Buddhism and science

science

 Based on experiment and observation

 based on faith in science
 Science is based on analysis, scrutinizing of every phenomenon
and examining every part of it and finding out how it came about.
That is exactly what the Buddha did.

Buddhism and science

 Concept of change, evolving (anicca)

 The four noble truths
 The assumption that there is pain and sorrow and misery, and the assumption that
everything, no matter what, has a cause, are the only two assumption that the Buddha made.
 One is based on observation and introspection and a generalization from human
experience; the other is the very life- blood of science, whether made in the East or in the
West.
 Buddhism has never had any quarrel with science or scientist, leave alone persecuted any
scientists for their findings, made them recant or burnt them at the stake
Buddhism and science

Is Buddhism Scientific
Science is knowledge which can be made into a system, which depends
upon seeing and testing facts and stating general natural laws. The core of
Buddhism fit into this definition, because the Four Noble truths can be tested
and proven by anyone in fact the Buddha himself asked his followers to test
the teaching rather than accept his word as true Buddhism depends more on
understanding than faith.
Buddhism and science

Science and Buddhism

 Science is neutral; it is man's mind and disposition which ought to be guided along
ethical lines and that precisely is the function of the Buddhist teaching. Buddhist
encourage research ,
 Authoritarian and dictatorial attitude of religion in the West clash with science,
 Buddhism has no authoritarian and dictatorial attitude Buddhism provide ethical
basis for industrial and technological age

Science can be defined as a rigorous empirical investigation of reality with the

goal of discovering and explaining natural phenomena and predicting how they
function.
Its field of study covers not only external phenomena, something that physics and
biology focus on, but also the way in which the mind works.

The difference between faith in Buddhism and science

Science is not interested in, and in fact is ignorant of, human nature, and as a result has become an
instrument of industry and its selfish advances on the environment. This ignorance of human nature
is ignorance of the fact that pandering to the five senses is incapable of making mankind happy or
contented. This kind of desire has no end, and so the search for material wealth has no end. Because
this abundance of material goods is obtained through exploitation of nature,  it follows that the
manipulation of nature is also without end and without check. Ultimately, nature will not have
enough to satisfy human desires. Even if human beings completely destroy nature, it won't be
enough to satisfy human desire. It would probably be more correct to say that this exploitation of
nature in itself gives man more misery than happiness.
Buddhism and science

Albert Einstein said Buddhism and science

Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a

cosmic religion for the future: It transcends a personal God, avoids
dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural and the spiritual, and
it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all
things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful.

Science without religion is lame.

Religion without science is blind.
Buddhism and science Dala lama

Dala lama said Buddhism and science

 If science proves some beliefs of Buddhism wrong, then

Buddhism will have to change. In my view,
 science and Buddhism share a search for the truth and for
understanding reality.
 By learning from science about aspects of reality where
its understanding may be more advanced, I believe that
Buddhism enriches its own worldview.
