INTER PROFESSIONAL CARE

IN COMMUNITY
Objectives:
 At the end of this lesson, the students will be able to know the Importance of
Interprofessional Care in the Community.
 At the end of this lesson, the students will be able to understand the Factors Necessary to
Function as an Integrated Unit.
 At the end of this lesson, the students will be able to understand the Role of the Different
Units/Organization.
Definition of Interprofessional Care (IPC)
 It is “the provision of comprehensive health services to patients by multiple caregivers
who work collaboratively to deliver quality care within and across settings.”
 IPC requires partnership and collaboration from multiple partners.
Factors Necessary to Function as an Integrated Unit:
 All health professionals need to be aware of the contributions that each profession brings
to the care arena.
 Maintain a mutual respect for each professional’s skill set; and make an earnest attempt
to communicate effectively;
 Seek out continuing educational training opportunities to improve interprofessional
collaboration.

Role of the Different Units/Organization:


1. Rural Health Unit Personnel
2. Local Government Unit
3. Government Organization
4. Non- Government Organization

1. RURAL HEALTH UNIT PERSONNEL


 The Rural Health Unit provides the basic health services for the population it serves.
 The Primary level heath facility
 Commonly known as “Health Center.”
MUNICIPAL HEALTH OFFICER (MHO)
1. Heads of the health services at Barangay Level
2. Administrator of the RHU
3. Community Physician
4. Medico - legal officer of the municipality

THE PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE


 Supervises & guides all RHMs in the municipality.
 Prepares annual reports like FHSIS of the municipality to submit it to the PHO.

THE RURAL HEALTH MIDWIFE


 Manages the BHS & supervises and trains the BHW.
 Provides Maternal and Child care.

RURAL SANITATION INSPECTOR


 Ensure a healthy physical environment in the municipality.

THE BARANGAY HEALTH WORKERS (BHW)


 Trained in prevention health care.
 Provide basic services at the BHS & RHU

2. LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT


 The government of a specific local area consulting a subdivision of a major plotical unit.
 Divided into three levels:
1. Provinces & Independent cities
2. Component cities & Municipalities
3. Barangays
4. GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION
 (DSWD) The Department of Social Welfare - is the primary government agency
mandated to develop, implement, and coordinate social protection and poverty-reduction
solutions for and with the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged.
 NUTRITION COUNCIL
 The National Nutrition Council (NCC) - is an agency of the Philippine government under
the Department of Health (DOH) responsible for creating a conducive policy
environment for national and local nutrition planning, implementation, monitoring, and
evaluation, and surveillance using state of the art technology and approaches.
 Presidential Decree 491 of 1974 of the Nutrition Act of the Philippines created the
National Nutrition Council (NCC)

• POPULATION COMMISION
- The Commission on Population (POPCOM) is a government agency mandated as the over-
all coordinating, monitoring and policy making body of the population program.
It is the lead agency promoting population activities.

5. NON - GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS


• SOCIO - CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS
-(or club) means any local service club, veterans' post, fraternal society or association,
volunteer fire or rescue groups, or local civic league or association of 10 or more persons not
proprietary but operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes, including the
promotion of community welfare, and the net earnings are devoted exclusively to charitable,
educational, recreational or social welfare purposes.
• RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONS
-As groups, religious organizations are groupings of religious individuals that have a variety
of different goals and purposes. In this lesson, churches themselves are the first type of
organization. Churches, whether traditional or modern, have structures just like any other
organization.
• SCHOOLS
-A school is an educational institution designed to provide learning spaces and learning
environments for the teaching of students (or "pupils") under the direction of teachers .
