Determine the maximum deflection of the given

beam. By Double Integration Method.

Determine deflection at the free end. By Macaulay’s Function.

Consider a cantilever beam of length 2L and subjected to

concentrated force P and concentrated moment PL as shown
below. Determine the tip deflection and tip rotation of a
beam for the following two cases: 1) the flexural rigidity EI is
constant throughout the beam and 2) the flexural rigidity of
segments AB and BC is given by 2EI and EI, respectively.

Determine the displacement at the mid-point of section AB, the deflection
at point C and rotation just to the right of C. Young's modulus and
moment of inertia of the cross section are assumed to be constant
throughout the structures and denoted by E and I, respectively.

The roof beam of a building is subjected to the loading shown. If a 3⁄8-in.

deflection is permitted at the cantilever end before the ceiling and roofing
materials would be damaged, calculate the required moment of inertia for the
beam. Use E = 29,000 ksi. Use a) Moment Area Method b) Conjuagate Beam
Method.

Compute the vertical and horizontal component of displacement of
joint E produced by the loads. The area of bars AB, BD, and CD = 5
in2; the area of all other bars = 3 in2, E = 30,000 kips/in2. B) if bars
AB and BD are fabricated ¾ in too long and support D settles 0.25
in., compute the vertical displacement of joint E. Neglect the 120
kip loads.
