This manual introduces the functions and operations of DSS Agile 8 App (hereinafter referred to as
"the app"). Read carefully before using the app, and keep the manual safe for future reference.

1 Introduction

1.1 Overview
DSS Agile 8 app is a mobile monitoring software for professional security surveillance. It has
functions such as live view, video playback, access control, video intercom, and face, human and
vehicle capture, and passenger flow. Devices such as cameras, video recorders, access controllers,
and video intercoms are supported.

1.2 Applicable OS
Android:
● Hardware: RAM 1 GB or larger; free storage space 1 GB or larger.
● System: Android 5.0 or later.
● Resolution: 1280 × 720 or higher.
iOS:
● iPhone model: 5S or later.
● System: iOS 10 or later.

Supports Bulgaria, French, Chinese, English, Arabic, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Japanese, Polish and
Russian.

2 Login

Make sure that the app and the DSS platform are in the same LAN. Otherwise, login might fail.
Step 1 On your mobile phone, tap .
Step 2 Log in as a normal user or a domain user.
● Normal User: Platform users created normally.
1) On the Login screen, tap Normal User.
2) Enter username and password of the normal user, IP address, and port number, and
then tap Login.
● Domain User: Platform users imported from the same domain of their organization
such as a company.
1) On the Login screen, tap Domain User.
2) Enter username and password of the domain user, IP address, and port number, and
then tap Login.

● The username, password, IP address, and port number must be the same as those set
on the DSS platform.
● To change the IP address and port number, tap Edit on the Login screen (unavailable
for the first-time login).
Step 3 (Optional) Draw an unlock pattern.

Tap Failed to log in? if you failed to log in to the account.

● You are required to change the password at your first login when changing password is
enabled at the DSS platform.
● For details on changing password, see "5 System Configuration and Account
Management".

4 Retail Service

You can switch to DSS Retail to view all the information on retail stores, including customer flow
statistics, store saturation rate, and passenger flow portrait.

4.1 Home

● Make sure that you select the Retail in Subsystem Permission when configuring role
management at DSS PC Client.
● The data displayed in this screen refreshes every 5 minutes automatically.

4.2 Store
You can select a store from the store lists to see the real-time data of the store saturation, queue,
customer flow and heat map.

respectively.
7 Heat Map Displays the regional heat statistic of the floor(s) of the store.

4.3 Intelligent Analysis

4.3.1 Passenger Flow


Tap Intelligent Analysis > Passenger Flow, tap to select a store, and then you can view the
line graph and portrait of the customer flow.
● You can select from Day, Week, and Month to display the customer flow statistic and
demographic.
● Tap the time period at the right-upper corner to select the week to be displayed.
● The demographic of portrait displays information including gender, age, and percentage data on
each dimension.

4.3.2 Queue Analysis


Tap Intelligent Analysis > Queue, tap to select a store, and then you can view the queue
overview, queue number trends, and queue time trends.

You can select from Day, Week, and Month to display the information.

Displays the overview in the store, and the percentage of customers
queuing in each cashier area.
Queue Overview
Tap to view the queue details, including queue name,
channel name, number of people, stay rate, and average stay time.
Displays the queue number trend (the number of customers in the
queue) based on day/week/month dimensions.
Queue Number Trends
● Tap to select queue to view.
● Tap to display in full screen.
Displays the queuing time trend (the different duration of queuing
of customers in the queue) based on day, week or month
Queue Time Trend dimensions.
Tap to display in full screen.

4.3.3 Heat Map


Tap Intelligent Analysis > Regional Heat, tap to select a store, and then you can view the
thermodynamic diagram, and heat analysis report.
● Tap Day or Week to display the thermodynamic diagram.
● Tap the time period at the right-upper corner to select the time to be displayed.
● Tap to display the thermodynamic diagram in full screen.
● The heat analysis report includes information, including area name, number of customer, stay
rate, stay time, and average stay time.

5 Basic Operations

After logging in to the app, you can configure functions such as live view, video playback, and face,
human and vehicle capture, passenger flow, and more.
Before operating on the app, you need to make configurations on DSS platform, such as adding
organizations, users, and devices, configuring map, videos, storage, and more.

This manual is for reference only, and the screens and functions might differ from different added
devices. This manual uses iOS as an example.

5.1 Viewing Live videos


You can view the monitoring channels, take snapshots, record videos, add channels to favorites, and
more.

Procedure
Step 1 On the Home screen, tap .
Step 2 Play a channel or multiple channels.
● Play a channel: Tap in the window, and then select a channel in the device list to be
played.
● Play multiple channels: Tap , and then select channels in the device list as needed.
● Play multiple channels that has been added in the DSS Pro: Tap , and then select
channel groups in the device list as needed.
◇ The number X/Y at the right of the row: X means the number of online devices or

channels and Y means the number of total devices or channels.


◇ Tap Favorites to select and view channels saved in the favorites.
◇ Tap to search for organizations, devices, or channels with keywords.
◇ Tap to view or cancel selection.
◇ The maximum number of channels to be selected at a time can be set in Me >
Monitoring Settings > Maximum Number of Channels.
◇ The layout mode of the device list can be set in Me > General > Layout.
Step 3 View and perform operations for live videos.

Related Operations
● Zoom in and out: Double-tap the video.
● View other videos: Swipe to the left or right, When played channels exceed the number of split
views.
● Change the video place: Tap and hold a video, and then move it to the target window.
● Delete a video: Tap and hold the video until the trash bin appears at the top of the screen, drag
the video to the trash bin, and then release.

5.2 Live view Description

● You can enable or disable Picture Scale Adaptation to view the video. For details, see "6 System
Configuration and Account Management".
● For IVSS device, the live screen can display the recording status. If the device is recording, the
screen displays a red icon at the left-upper corner. You can enable or disable Device record
status to display the recording status. For details, see"6 System Configuration and Account
Management".
● Supports acquiring stream from the device through logging in to the IP address. You can enable
or disable Acquire directly from the device. For details, see "6 System Configuration and
Account Management".

Rule line. You can set rule lines, including three types:
Regular superposition, Target box overlay, and Dynamic
detection target frame overlay.
Split view. The live screen can display 1, 4, 9, or 16 views.

Set the maximum number of live channels in Me >

Enabling too many channels at the same time might limit app
performance.
Tap to display in full screen.
Video playback. For details on performing operations on the
Playback screen, see "4.2 Playback".
Take a snapshot.

Snapshots are saved in Me > Files. You can also tap the
captured image on the lower-left corner of the window to see
details.
Video recording.

Recorded videos are saved in Me > Files. You can also tap the
3 video on the lower-left corner of the window to see details.
Two-way audio.
● Channel talk: Talk to the played channel.
● Device talk: Talk to the device.

● Two-way audio is available on select models.


● If device talk is available, the system will prompt you to
select between device talk and channel talk. Otherwise,
only channel talk is enabled by default.
Close/Recover the live view. Tap to close all the live view. Tap
again to recover.

PTZ control.
● Zoom: Tap to zoom in or zoom out the image.
● Focus: Tap to adjust focal length.
● Iris: Tap to adjust the brightness of the video.
● Preset: Add presets on the DSS platform. On the app, tap
and then select a preset. By calling the preset, the
camera can quickly turn to the monitoring target.
● Quick position: Tap to draw a box on live video, and
then the PTZ camera will rotate, focus and quickly locate
that area.

● Direction control: Tap on the screen to control

PTZ directions. The directions include left, right, up,


down, upper-left, upper-right, lower-left, and lower-right.
● Gesture control: Pinch or stretch out with fingers on the
screen to zoom out or zoom in.
● Snapshot: Tap to take a snapshot.
● Video recording: Tap to record videos.

● Only one window is displayed during PTZ control.


● PTZ function is available on select models.
● In Me > Monitoring Settings, select PTZ Speed from 1
to 8. The higher the value is, the faster the PTZ moves.
Favorites. For details, see "4.18 Favorites".
Fisheye.
● Select a video, and then tap to enable fisheye. Swipe
on the screen to dewarp the display effect of video
image.
● For snapshot, video recording, and audio, refer to
previous items.
● The fisheye VR mode can be switched to 1+3P mode on
wall mount.

The function is available on fisheye cameras only.


Temp.
● Select a video, and then tap to monitor temperature.
● Tap anywhere on the screen, and the temperature at that
location will be displayed.

The function is only available on thermal cameras.

Sound and light control.
● : Controls the sound. Tap or to turn on or turn
off sound.
● : Controls the light. Tap or to turn on or turn
off light.

Tap or to turn on or turn off the sound and light at


the same time.

● The function is only available on IP cameras with sound


and light channels. Up to 16 channels are supported.
● The function should be configured first on the DSS
platform.
Tap , and then select a defined alarm event to trigger an
alarm manually.
Alarm output control.
Tap , select a channel, and then tap or to enable or
disable alarm input/output.
Displays the latest alarm message of the selected channel. For

details, see "4.17 Alarm Messages".
You can enable the sleep mode and set the power threshold
4G low power of the 4G low power consumption camera at the DSS
5 consumption platform.

5.2 Playback
You can search and play back recorded videos that are saved on the device or platform.

Prerequisites
Before playing back videos on the app, you need to add a record plan, set record storage position,
and enable the plan on the DSS platform. For details, see DSS Pro User’s Manual.

Procedure
Step 1 On the Home screen, tap .
Step 2 Play back a channel or multiple channels.
● Play back a channel: Tap in the window and then select a channel in the device list.
● Play multiple channels: Tap , and then select up to four channels in the device list as
needed.
Step 3 Select between Center Recording and Device Recording. The date with a blue icon
above means it has records. Center Recording is set by default. It can be modified in Me >

Monitoring Settings > Default Recording Type.
● Center Recording: Videos stored on the server. Make sure that the storage disks are
installed.
● Device Recording: Videos stored on the device. Make sure that the storage devices are
installed.
Step 4 Tap the date with a blue icon, and then the video is played automatically.
● Double-tap the video to zoom in or out.
● When multiple channels are being played back in the single view mode, swipe the
window to the left or right to view other videos.
● To change the video place, tap and hold a video, and then move it to the target
window.
● To delete a video, tap and hold the video till the trash bin appears at the top of the
screen, drag the video to the trash bin, and then release.

Step 5 Enter user password, and then tap Confirm to complete settings.
Once Normally Open or Normally Closed is set, you need to tap Restore to restore to

5.4 Video Intercom

5.4.1 Video Call


You can realize functions such as mutual call between video intercoms and the app, and search for
call logs.

Prerequisites
Before managing alarm messages, you need to make configurations on DSS platform such as adding
video intercom devices, enabling or disabling building/unit, and make configurations of
management group and group relation. For details, see DSS Pro User’s Manual.

Procedure
Step 1 On Home screen, tap .
Step 2 Tap an intercom, and then tap for video call or tap for voice call.

Use a captured image or select specific features, such as age and gender, to search the database for
people who match your requirements.
Before using this function, you need to configure the face capture function for devices such as a
camera, intelligent video surveillance server, and intelligent network video recorder. For details, see
the user's manual of each corresponding device.

5.5.1 Search by Image


Use a captured image to search the database for people who match it. View the level of similarity
between the results and the image in percentage.

The function is only supported by select devices such as an intelligent video surveillance server and
an intelligent network video recorder.

Procedure
Step 1 On the Home screen, tap .
Step 2 On the Face Capture screen, tap Search by Image, and then tap Snapshot to capture the
human face.
Step 3 Select one or multiple channels from the same device, set the begin time and end time,
and similarity, and then tap Search.
Step 4 Tap a search result (listed by similarity) to view more information on the person, including
the level of similarity and video records linked to the person.

beard, glasses, and then tap Search.

View the snapshot details of person from the camera with video metadata function.

Prerequisites
Before using this function, you need to add cameras with video metadata function on the DSS

Step 2 On the Person Archive screen, enter the ID, name, and card No. of the person that you are

You can tap Search without entering ID, name or card No. to view all search results.
Step 3 Tap a result to view person details and linked capture records.
● To view face captures of the person that you are searching for, tap Face Capture.
● To view vehicle captures of the person that you are searching for, tap Vehicle Capture.
● To view access related capture records of the person that you are searching for, tap

5.9 Vehicle Archive


View information on the vehicle owner, their vehicle, and the vehicle capture records linked to them.

vehicle color that you are looking for, and then tap Search.

You can tap Search without entering the plate number, owner name, or brand and color of

Step 3 Tap a result to view information on the vehicle owner, their vehicle, and the vehicle
capture records linked to them.

To filter the search range by vehicle color and logo, tap on the Search Result screen.

5.10 Case Bank


View information and records on the case.

Procedure
Step 1 On the Home screen, tap .
Step 2 On the Case Bank screen, enter the case ID/name, case type, and case state that you are
searching for, and then tap Search.

You can tap Search without entering the ID/name, type and state of the case to view all
search results.
Step 3 Tap a result to view information and records on the case.

To filter the search range by case type and state, tap on the Search Result screen.

5.11 Visitor Manager


You can create a visitor pass, giving a visitor access permissions. You can also view visitor status to
see information on a visit or the ending of a visit, to modify the pass, and configure automatic visit
and automatic leave.

5.11.1 Visitor Pass


Create a pass for the visitor or manually invalidate the pass.

Procedure
Step 1 On the Home screen, tap .
Step 2 On the Visitor Pass screen, fill in pass information.
● Information such as host name, host address, and visitor name are required; otherwise,
the pass cannot be created.
● Permission means the entrance and exit permissions on the device for the visitor,

including Access Control, Video Intercom, and Entrance/Exit.
◇ Access Control: Access control devices.
◇ Video Intercom: Door stations. Select Host Address first; otherwise, you cannot
authorize Video Intercom.

otherwise, you cannot authorize Entrance.

Permission can be configured on the DSS platform.


Step 3 Tap Generate visitor pass to create a pass QR code.

● To cancel the appointment, tap Cancel Appoint, and then the QR code becomes
invalid.

5.11.2 Visitor Records


You can obtain the visitor status, view and modify the pass.

Step 2 On the Visitor Pass screen, tap to view visitor records.
Step 3 Tap a result to view details and modify the pass.
● For the visitor whose appointment has been cancelled, to re-invite the visitor, tap

5.12 Passenger Flow Analysis


You can view historical and real-time passenger statistics.

5.12.1 Real-time Count


After selecting a people counting group, you can view real-time passenger statistics on it, including
information on the specific number of exit, entry and stay people, the remaining number of people
allowed to enter, and current limit status.

Prerequisites
Before using this function, you need to configure people counting groups on the DSS platform. For
details, see DSS Pro User’s Manual.

Procedure
Step 1 On the Home screen, tap .
Step 2 On the screen, tap Select or on the upper-right corner to select a people
counting group, and then tap Confirm.
Step 3 Real-time passenger statistics is generated.
● Real-time passenger flow dashboard shows the remaining number of people allowed
to enter, and current limit status.
● Lights on the dashboard serve as a warning.
◇ Green: The number of stay people is much smaller than the defined limit number.

More people can enter.


◇ Orange: The number of stay people is very closer than to the defined limit number.

◇ Red: The number of stay people is larger than the defined limit number. People
need to wait before entering.

edit basic information on the person, and remove the person from the group.

Procedure
Step 1 On the Home screen, tap .
Step 2 On the Face Watch list, select a face comparison group, and then tap to add a person
to the group.
Step 3 Tap Snapshot to capture a face or upload a face photo from the album, and enter basic
information on the person, and then tap Complete.
The person will be displayed on the list of the face comparison group, and you can tap the
person to view details.

Tap More Info to enter more information on the person.

Vehicles will be displayed on the list of the vehicle arming group, and you can tap the
vehicle to view information on the vehicle and its owner.

You can view host list, area list, and zone list of devices, configure arming status, and search for

Tap Personalized settings > Edit Module, select Alarm Control Panel from Event
Center to display it on the function modules.
Step 2 Tap to set the arming status as Armed, Disarmed or Update Alarm Host.

5.16.1 GIS Map

Procedure
Step 1 On the Home screen, tap .

Tap , select GIS map, and then you can switch between Google map and Baidu map.
Step 2 Tap a blue camera icon, and then you can play live or recorded videos.

● Gray icon means that the channel is offline, and you can only play back the center
record if it has.
● Tap , and then you can select a channel in the device list to quickly find its location
on the map. Make sure that you have added that channel to the map.
● Tap to view detailed device information such as the device type, name,

Step 3 (Optional) Zoom out the map, the channels will aggregate as a number. The displayed
number is the quantity of aggregated channels.
● Tap a number on the map to show the aggregated channels. Swipe upward to unfold
all channels.
● Tap an online channel, and then you can view and playback live recorded videos
(offline channel can only play back center records if it has).

Hot zone is supported on the GIS map. Tap to view details. The function should be
configured first on the DSS platform.

5.16.2 Raster Map

Procedure
Step 1 On the Home screen, tap .
Step 2 Tap , select Raster Map, and then tap a raster map in the list.
Step 3 Tap a blue camera icon, and then you can play live or recorded videos.

● Picture-in-Picture: Enable it, and then live video can be viewed on the
small floating windows simultaneously.
● Default Recording Type: Select from center recording and device
recording.
● Alarm Voice Broadcast: Enable it, and then the new alarm will be
reported with audio when you are using the app. For iOS system,
alarm voice broadcast is disabled immediately when the app is in the
background.

Settings ● Subscribe Offline Call: Enable it, and then you can receive a push
notification of the incoming call when the app is in the background
(not log out).
● Push Notifications: Enable it, and then notifications can be pushed.
You cannot receive push notifications if you have logged out the app.
● Organization Tree Display Mode: Select from organization & device
and device only.
● Display service: Display devices.

● Theme Mode: Select theme mode between normal and dark mode.
● Pattern Login & Face Login: Enable them, and then you can login
with gesture, fingerprint, or face.
