generates experiences or activities. It serves as a foundation for the family values and also as a special
bonding experience. Family tradition stimulates positive feelings and memories upon which family can
reminisce. Also these family traditions are being passed down from one generation to another.

What separates family tradition from family routine, is that is an action that occurs
repeatedly, but it has a lack of symbolic meaning. As for Family traditions it plays as the
instrument that leads the family unit to function properly (Thill, 2020)

special bond. Tradition creates a positive experiences and memories to the family which gives
them a sense of belonging. It even contributes to child’s self – esteem and enhances their well-
being.

How to Keep Traditions Going

Family traditions are established and maintained by the families as their way to bond, gain
experience, and connect to each other. Commitment and planning must be dedicated by the
family in order to keep these from going (Thill, 2020).
