Rollout:

Case 1: A company has 6 plants when they plan for SAP implementation. All 6 plants are SAP
implemented. After few years, that company started 3 new plants in different locations. For those 3
plants,
same SAP processes should be copied.

Case 2: A company has 15 plants. When they plan for SAP implementation, they felt like doing SAP
implementation for all 15 plants at a time will be difficult so they decided in first phase 7 plants will
be
implemented and other 7 plants will be rolled out later.

Rollout Activities:

Generally, the activities/configuration settings which are at client level don't have to be done in
Rollout project

Configuration Settings:

1. Define Plant
2. Assign Plant to Company Code
3. Assign Plant to Purchase organization (If it is de central process, maintain new purchase
organization and then assign Plant to Purchase organization)
4. New release group and new release strategies as per new plants requirements
5. Plant parameters in MRP
6. Plant Parameters in Inventory Management
7. As valuation area is Plant, assign valuation grouping code to valuation area in Automatic account
assignment
8. As per the requirement, new Material types, new vendor account groups, new purchasing
document types, new release strategy settings can be done.
Testing:

In development, we do Unit testing and then System Integration Testing in Quality and then business
will do UAT in Quality system.

Regression Testing: Regression testing will be performed generally in Rollout and Enhancement and
Upgrade kind of projects. This will be performed in Quality system and the test script will be like
System Integration Testing.

Ex: In a client, 10 Company Codes/Plants are implemented SAP sometime back. Then the rollout was
done for new plants. Then the testing must be done for any 1 or 2 company codes from old 10
Company codes to ensure that the new changes
have not affected any of old company codes.

Cutover:

In Rollout project also, cutover period will be decided as per the size of the data of the plants which
are being rolled out.

Entire master data will be uploaded in Production System with the conversion templates we have
prepared during implementation. As per the requirement, new templates may be created. Cutover
data also uploaded in Production system.
