1. Choose an album or podcast to design
2. Select audio from a song or a podcast episode
3. Keep in mind you are working on 15 second clip
(decide which parts of songs/podcasts you want to
mix together)
4. Begin with a mind map or album/podcast analysis

What is the tone of the audio?

What kind of genre is it?
Which target audience listens to it?
5. Decide which aesthetics are suitable for your selection
Connect sound with visuals, for example:

Is it fast-paced?
Does it start slow and transition to a rapid sound?
Does it sound colorful or dim?
Who is the audience and what typography and visuals
would suit them?
6. Compose the front of the album

Primary focus: Typography that includes the title of the

album/podcast

If it is a music album it must also include the name of the

singer or band

If it is a podcast include who the host and or/the

organization/company

Secondary focus: Visual elements

7. Compose the back of the album to include the
track list/episode list + secondary visual elements
8. Ensure the motion aspect is synchronized
with the sound and consider transitions from
the front to the back of the cover
As designers, you will decide how you animate the
front and the back. Keep the following points in
mind:

1. The clip must move from the front of the album to

the back showcasing all of the typographic and
visual elements

2. The typography should reflect the primary

movement on the album cover, while the visual
elements can also move but should not take
attention away from the type
