KU @30: 2023 Culture Week Fashion Show

1. THE DESIGN BRIEF:

a) To commemorate KU culture week @30, you have been commissioned to design


fashionable Friday wear for both male and female. Your source of inspiration is
KU gate which a brand identity for the university. Using various elements on gate
structure, design and create a casual Friday wear for top management.
b) In line with the culture week theme, design a Vant-Garde garment for KU student
both male and female for celebrating KU’s diverse culture
c) Create a dinner garment to be worn by Miss and Mr KU during culture week
closing ceremony.

NOTE
Garments must be cost effective , aspects of sustainability and environmental conservation should
be put into consideration in the changing climatic conditions.

2. PRESENTATION:
a) Designs should be submitted in hard copy for pre-judging.
b) All illustrations should be both front and back dressed on a fashion figure – male and female
images
c) Illustrate the sketches in Colour intended to be used.
d) These design illustrations will be assessed and approved designs will be made into actual
garments for final judging during the fashion show.
e) Each designer will stitch two garments for both male and female.

3. WRITE-UP
Each designer is required to prepare a short typed write up to support their selected design. The
information will be used during the judging. Provide the following information:-
a) Your profile
b) Garment design summary
i. Source of design inspiration
ii. Client profile
iii. Suitability of the design garment
iv. Explain any peculiar details on the design
v. Attach a copy of design illustration in Colour

Prepare your design sketches and write up and submit them to Fashion Design and Marketing
Culture week coordinator.

4. MODELING
Designers to identify a model to showcase your designs during culture week fashion show. The
model should be registered at the culture week office and attend rehearsals together with Mr. and
Miss. KU main campus pageant contestants. Take models measurements to assist in construction
and fit of the garment.
