Response to Discussion

Hello Kimberly,

I agree that having prior knowledge of Darlene's condition is essential to suggest

medication for her condition effectively. The patient shows signs of acute pain which influences

and affects her mental status; thus, it is important to be emotionally sensitive, suggesting care

plans that include psychological intervention. Integrating approaches to mitigate the pain and

effect of Darlene's condition requires pain management and non-pharmacological and

pharmacological interventions to effectively combat the condition (Riemma et al., 2020).

I agree that the first step in mitigating the influences of the situation is through analysis of

the patient's condition. This is done through pain assessment and suggesting remedies depending

on the pain levels. Therapies, both physical and psychological, should be used in mitigating the

pain Darlene undergoes. It is normal for such patients to fall into depression because of the tight

and continued schedule in and out of hospitals and the acute pain patients undergo. As a medical

practitioner, it is vital to ensure that stress reduction affects a patient and that the right care plan

is formulated for the condition.

The use of epidural steroid injections and spinal cord stimulation is key in effecting

change on the patient in relation to relieving Darlene from pain. An interdisciplinary care plan is

needed for the case as the patient suffers psychologically, and the pain inflicted by her condition

is not good for her daily routine, as seen through the effect on her work. The care plan's

enforcement of both physical and emotional aspects is the best way to help Darlene because it

provides avenues to address all health issues affecting her. As a medical practitioner, I will see it

imposing a care plan that covers all mental and physical health aspects.
