OBJECTIVE OF HOT FLUSHING:-

To remove oil, grease and other welding impurities adhering to the interior evaporative
surface of pressure parts of theBoilerIt will be carried out at drum pressures of 10-20 kg/cm2.

COMPLETION CRITERIA:

Hot flushing would be considered complete when MS parameters will be SiO2 < 30 ppb and Fe
< 50 ppb.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION:

The system will be flushed continuouslyby filling and draining DM water. Ammonia will be added
in the drum to maintain pH. CBD and MS sample will be tested on hourly basis till the
Parameters meet the value for turbine rolling criteria (mentioned above).After achieving the MS
criteria, clearance for turbine rolling will be given.

Consumption of Chemical, Water, and Expected Criteria to be achieved during Unit-1 hot
flushing (As per reference to Unit # 2 hot flushing last year):-

Detail of Chemicals required

Ammonia: 23 liters
Hydrazine: 30 liters
Water: 1000 cubic meters approx.
Time required for completing the process 16.00 hours.
