Introduction:

In modern network communication systems, data and signals often need to be

converted to different forms to ensure smooth transmission and compatibility between

various components. This paper explores the data communication conversion technologies

involved in a scenario where a network application is used to access a database of corporate

profiles. The process involves multiple conversion steps, each occurring at specific locations

and transforming the incoming information into an appropriate outgoing format.

In this example, there are four conversion steps in the process of accessing the

database of corporate profiles:

Local Area Network (LAN) to Modem: This conversion takes place at the computer

workstation. The incoming information is in the form of digital data packets, which are

converted into an analog signal (DSL) by the modem.

Modem to Internet: This conversion occurs within the modem. The incoming

information is in the form of an analog signal (DSL), which is converted into digital data

packets to be transmitted over the Internet.

Internet to Database Service: This conversion happens at the point where the Internet

connects to the database service. The incoming information is in the form of digital data

packets, which are transmitted as digital data packets to the database service.Database

Service Modem to Mainframe Computer: This conversion takes place within the database

service. The incoming and outgoing information both remain in the form of digital data

packets, as they are processed and stored within the mainframe computer.

Please note that the specifics of the conversions may vary depending on the actual

technologies and protocols used in the network infrastructure. This example provides a

general overview of the data or signal conversions involved in the described process.

Conclusion:

In this paper, we have examined the data signal conversion process involved in

accessing a database of corporate profiles through a network application. The conversion

steps occur at various points within the network infrastructure and ensure compatibility and

efficient transmission of data. The conversions include transforming digital data packets into

an analog signal (DSL) for transmission over traditional telephone lines, converting the

analog signal back into digital data packets for Internet transmission, and maintaining the

digital format throughout the communication with the database service and mainframe
