3 Parking Index and spillover


Parking index is the fundamental basis for the buildings parking supply at the Bandar
Universiti Seri Iskandar. The analysis on the parking demand takes prepare for establishing
the buildings parking index. The parking index is also called occupancy or efficiency. This is
defined as the ratio numbers between the number of bays occupied in time and the total
available parked space. Thus, it gave an aggregate measure of how efficiently parking space
is used.

Although, the parking spiillover is indicates the number of parking deficit at that time
period. Based on the parking index calculation method, the analysis found the parking index
and parking spillover in the study area as follows (Refer table 4.4) :-

As a result of this total parking index covering 1160 units of car parking excluding
motorcycles and OKU parking, this is due to data limitations in a limited range of data.
Consequently,the results discovered in this analysis found the increase in the utilization of
parking in the study area. The average parking index in study area is 21.54. Its mean 21.54%
car parking capacity is utilized in the study area and showed a significant increase from 7
a.m. to 8 a.m. However, the use of parking is still sufficient for the entire quarter of parking at
study area.

In additon, for parking spillover data analysis, there are limitations to obtaining data during
peak hours. However, parking spillover at 4 am to 8 am no parking spillover was recorded in
the entire study area.
