CENTER PUNCH

Hello everyone!

My name is wahyu Nur Hidayat . On this occasion, I will present to you about center punch. I’m going
to divide this talk into several part. The definition, the parts, the function, and how to use center
punch. I would love to answer your questions in the Q&A session, so if you have any questions,
please keep them until the presentation is over.

Okay, let's start with the first poin. The definition.

Center punch is a tool used to make point in the workpiece. This tool is made of hardened high
carbon steel. Meanwhile, This tool is cylindrical, with a size of approximately 10 cm. That was the
definition

Now i will explaint about the second point. The Parts.

Center punch consists of 2 main parts.

the first part is the handle, this function is to control or hold the tool during operation.

the next part is the pointed end, serves to mark the point on the workpiece.

the pointed end forms an angle of 30° to 90°. And the handle has a cylindrical shape. They are
connected to each other. The length of center punch is approximately 10 cm. So much for the part of
center punch
Now i will explain about the function.

As i explained earlier. Center punch serves to make points or marks on the workpiece to be drilled,
this aims to facilitate drilling. Handle serves to hold the tool, and the pointed serves to mark the
point. That was the function of center punch.

And the last point. How to use center punch.

The way to use this tool is to determine the place where the boundary markings will be made or
where the holes will be marked. Usually by using a scraper.

After that, hold the picker with your left hand and hold the hammer with your right hand (especially
for line pickers and center pickers, not for automatic pickers).

Place the tip of the marker on the line to be marked or at the point where the flashlight point will be
made. The placement of the tip of the pin is first tilted, so that it can be ensured that the tip of the
pin is really on the intended line or point.

After the pinpoint position is correct, then straighten the pin so that it is perpendicular to the
workpiece.

Hit the pin head using a hammer (the hammer used for this work is a hammer weighing 250 grams).
Do it repeatedly, until the job is done. For making boundary markings, the distance between one
point and another is 1 to 2 mm.

That's all the topic for today.

So in short, center punch is a cylindrical hand tool used to make point, made of hardened high
carbon steel, and has a length of approximately 10 cm.

That's all from my presentation. And thanks for your attention. Any question?
