HUMAN GENOME

PROJECT
A BRIEF INTRODUCTION

It was an international research project that wanted to have accurate details about
DNA, such as the base pairs that make the molecule up, map and sequence of human
genome.
THE GOALS

The main purpose of this project was to discover all the sets of genes of humankind.
Another important goal was to use this data to create sequences of three billion DNA
base pairs in order to help health care progress.

The Human Genome Project involved mainly 6 countries:

OUTCOMES

The project ended in 2003 and all of its goals were achieved. The data has become an
important asset in preventing some diseases.
