1. A national celebration that you feel is important will take place next month. However, some
students at your school feel this celebration is a waste of time. You disagree and want to
spread the idea widely that the celebration is worthwhile. Write a text in which you describe
the celebration, highlight its importance and state how enjoyable it can be.

2. A famous English-speaking author recently visited your town. The author’s books are very
popular with young people, and so you think it is important to find out more about this
person so that the general public are better informed. Write a text in which you report what
the author is like, and what they have to say about what motivates them to write, and about
why their work appeals to a teenage audience.

3. In your school, stress is causing problems for many of your fellow students, and the school
authorities have decided to launch a campaign to overcome this problem. You have been
asked to help by writing a text to promote this campaign. The text should describe the
possible symptoms of stress, explain the most common causes, and suggest ways in which
stress can be avoided.
